AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)01/11 Report--
With the continuous expansion of Toyota's market share in China, its "two-car strategy" in China is also gradually accelerating. In order to meet the needs of the domestic consumer market, Toyota "special models" continue to emerge. for example, Toyota's two major joint ventures have publicly announced that they will bring extended versions of Guangzhou Automobile Toyota Liling and FAW Toyota Corolla models together.
Following FAW Toyota's debut of its new A+ class ALLION at the Guangzhou Auto Show, and the completion of the declaration of the new car in the new car catalogue of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, it means that the launch of the new car has been put on the agenda. The new car is based on the TNGA architecture and is positioned somewhere between the Carola and the Asian Dragon.
From the appearance of the new car, the design of "Aolan" is very similar to the Carola sports version, using the new family design language. Large area mesh air intake grille, with sharp headlights on both sides, integrates more chrome plating design than Carola as a whole.
On the side, the new car basically continues Carola's model design, while Aolan is obviously more slender than Carola, especially adding a number of chromium-plated design factors. The shape of the A-column and C-column is also basically similar to the Carola, after all, this car belongs to the extended wheelbase version of the Carola.
In terms of body size, "Aolan" has a length, width and height of 4720, 1780 and 1435 (mm), and its wheelbase is 2750mm, which is 50mm higher than that of Carola.
As for the rear of the body, Aolan did not change as much as the front face, including the headlight group seems to still use the Carola style, but the most obvious difference is to remove the through chrome strip between the Carola taillights and replace it with a bright black strip, while adding the letter ALLION in the middle of the strip, similar to the Asian dragon design.
Although the interior of the show car was not open before, it can be seen through the window that the layout of the central control part of the new car remains the same as that of the Carola, and the color matching will provide a dark color scheme.
In terms of configuration, the new car comes in 16-inch, 17-inch and 18-inch rims; in addition, the new car is equipped with skylights, front and rear cameras, rain-sensitive wipers and electroplated door handles. However, the obviously smaller wheels on the declaration chart make the new car inferior to the momentum of the models at the auto show.
In terms of power, the new cars are equipped with 2.0L naturally aspirated engines codenamed M20E and M20A, with a maximum power of 178hp and a peak torque of 210Nm, matched by a CVT gearbox. FAW Toyota Aolan will be officially listed in the first quarter of 2021, according to officials. With the launch of the Aolan model, GAC Toyota Ling Shang will also arrive and is expected to be officially launched in the first half of 2021.
Japanese brands have gradually accelerated the "two-car strategy" in China, successfully grabbing market share in China after eight years, surpassing German brands for the first time in October last year. Today, Toyota and Honda have learned Volkswagen's "one car, two meals" strategy, and Toyota has taken the lead in launching extended special supply vehicles tailored exclusively for the Chinese market, so it can be seen that copying Volkswagen's strategic plan in China will also boost Toyota's market performance in China.
