On January 15, the new WEY brand SUV Mocha was officially launched, which is Great Wall's first model based on the "Coffee Intelligence" platform.

It is understood that the WEY brand currently on sale mainly includes VV5, VV6, VV7, Tank 300 and other products, from the new SUV naming, and the previous WEY model has a clear difference. In July 2020, Great Wall launched three technology platforms: lemon, Tank and Coffee, of which the Mocha is the first model based on Coffee Intelligence. According to WEY officials, it is hoped that mocha will be integrated into users' daily lives like mocha coffee.

Prior to this, Great Wall launched a number of products, such as Haver Dog, Euler good Cat, Euler Black Cat, Tank 300 and so on, all of which adopted a new naming style. Judging from the way WEY's new SUV is named, Great Wall hopes to improve the popularity and topic of its products because it is based on the "coffee intelligence" platform, which in turn adopts names related to the coffee industry.

In addition, in addition to naming, this new SUV model has also come up with new tricks in marketing. Huawei Princess Yao Anna, who has just announced her debut in the entertainment industry, quickly endorses this new WEY model, thanks to the popularity of Huawei Princess, this new model also earns enough "appearance".

This new way of naming and marketing can indeed get a certain degree of popularity, but whether the product can be recognized by consumers remains to be seen.

The WEY mocha uses a brand new family design language in appearance, with a large hexagonal intake grille on the front face, a vertical chrome-plated dot matrix of different lengths on the interior, a larger WEY brand logo in the center, and more aggressive headlights on both sides. The WEY Mocha rear design retains the language of the WEY brand as a whole, while the taillight group is somewhat similar to the VV7. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4875/1960/1690mm and the wheelbase is 2915mm.

Referring to the design sketches and design preview drawings, the WEY Mocha interior adopts a new design style, with a dual-spoke multi-function steering wheel and three LCD screens, of which the instrument panel is smaller, and the other two LCD screens mainly control the vehicle system and air-conditioning system.

As the first model of "Coffee platform", the car is equipped with specification-level Qualcomm 8155 chip, the first gauge-level 5G+V2X, the first gauge-level lidar, AR-HUD, L3 autopilot domain controller and other hardware. On the power side, the fuel version will be equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged in-line four-cylinder engine codenamed E20N, with a maximum power of 157kW, matched with a 9-block double-clutch gearbox. The plug-in version uses the combination of E20N 2.0T engine and motor, which is expected to be a DHT dual-motor hybrid system.

According to the data, the WEY brand is a high-end brand of Great Wall Automobile, which was established in November 2016. According to the data, the cumulative sales of the WEY brand in 2020 was 78500, down 21.53% from the same period last year, making it the biggest decline in the Great Wall brand.

At present, the WEY brand owns VV6, VV5, VV7 and other products, but there are not many products that can be relied on. WEY is in urgent need of a new model to drive the overall sales growth.

WEY announced on the 14th that the new SUV model is named "Mocha". On the 15th, it released the official map of Mocha, and announced that Princess Huawei has become the spokesman of WEY Mocha, which shows that WEY attaches great importance to the new car. It is understood that WEY Mocha will be officially unveiled on January 20.
