Today, Tesla ushered in the delivery of the second domestic model Model Y again, marking the new stage of Tesla's development in China.

According to netizens, this morning, the first batch of domestic Tesla Model Y has begun delivery in Shanghai, including Shanghai World Expo Tesla Center, Shanghai Xiangyang Tesla Center and Shanghai Senlan delivery Center, meaning that the first batch of consumers who place orders for Tesla Model Y models have been able to pick up their cars.

It is understood that the first delivery of Model Y is a long-lasting version, a total of about dozens of vehicles delivered, for small batch delivery, high-volume delivery still need to wait for some time. In the future, Tesla will also begin to deliver domestic Model Y models in various cities in China one after another, and deliver the vehicles to users as quickly as possible. However, as the current Model Y model is relatively popular, the car will not be available until the second quarter of this year at the earliest.

On January 1 this year, Tesla officially opened the pre-sale of the second domestic model, Model Y, with a total of long-lasting version and high-performance version, priced at 339900 yuan and 369900 yuan respectively, 148100 yuan and 165100 yuan lower than the previous imported version.

It was precisely because of the sharp drop in prices that Tesla's order in China was quickly detonated. There is even news that Tesla has reached an order of nearly 100000 cars in only one day, resulting in the Tesla official website ordering page once paralyzed. Since then, Tesla customer support is also there and the official Weibo posted that the order page of the official website may not be able to refresh temporarily due to the surge in traffic.

Although only 10% of the order news has not been confirmed by officials and related parties, some media opened Tesla's official website again on January 6 and found that the order Tesla Model Y was issued at this time, and the expected delivery date has changed to the second quarter of 2021, while the previous delivery was in January this year, equivalent to waiting for the car for nearly 3-6 months.

The reason why waiting for a car is not only the popularity of Tesla's Model Y model, but also because the current Tesla Model Y model has not achieved large-scale production. With the subsequent production of Model Y and the gradual increase in production capacity, the production capacity of Tesla Shanghai Super Factory electric vehicles will also be significantly improved.

According to industry estimates, Tesla Shanghai Super Factory is expected to produce 523000 electric vehicles this year, of which 278000 are Model 3 and 245000 are Model Y. However, based on the current capacity of the Shanghai super factory, weekly production is estimated to be about 8000 vehicles, including 5000 Model 3 and 3000 Model Y per week, so orders for nearly 100000 vehicles will last as long as 33 weeks (nearly eight months).

Earlier, Tao Lin, vice president of foreign affairs of Tesla, also posted a message on Weibo that domestic versions of Tesla Model Y began to be delivered one after another this month (January). In addition, according to Tesla China's official website, the domestic high-performance version of Model Y Performance is expected to start delivery in the third quarter.

With the delivery of Tesla's second domestic model, Model Y, it will also help Tesla erode the domestic new energy vehicle market. As Model Y models are more in line with the needs of domestic consumers, coupled with the possibility that prices will continue to be reduced in the later stage, Tesla sales will continue to rise. Prior to this, Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the Federation of passengers, also believes that the price reduction of domestic Tesla will have a new round of impact on the domestic luxury SUV market. In the future, Tesla will rely on two domestic models to hit the target of annual production of 1 million vehicles.
