After more than 4 months, the 2020 China Automobile Fengyun list was officially released. On the evening of January 20, the "2020 China Automobile Festival" specially planned by CCTV Finance was held at the Beijing Exhibition Hall. A total of 12 models were shortlisted.

Judging from the list released, most of the models on the list are joint venture brands, including Dongfeng Nissan Teana, FAW-Volkswagen Golf, Guangzhou Automobile Honda Accord, SAIC Volkswagen Vorcan, Dongfeng Honda CR-V, Beijing Hyundai Sonata, FAW-Toyota Asian Dragon, while only Lecke 05, Changan CS75 PLUS, BYD Han EV, FAW Red Flag H9 and Chery Tiger 8 PLUS are the autonomous models.

Unlike before, each of the major models in the list has won a special title. Specifically, Geely Lecke 05 won the title of "Design car of the year", Dongfeng Nissan Teana won "Power car of the year", FAW-Volkswagen Golf won "handling car of the year", BYD EV won "New Energy car of the year", Changan CS75 PLUS won "Internet car of the year", Guangzhou Automobile Honda Accord won "Best selling car of the year". Beijing Hyundai Sonata won the "Progress car of the year", SAIC Volkswagen prestige, Dongfeng Honda CR-V and FAW Toyota Asian Dragon won the title of "MPV of the year", "SUV of the year" and "car of the year" respectively. In addition, FAW Red Flag H9 and Chirui Tiger 8 PLUS both won the title of "Creative car of the year".

After the list was released online, the response was relatively large. Due to the different directions of individual consumer comments, some netizens both affirmed and objected to the 2020 China Automobile list released by CCTV. In addition, due to the initial entry into the list of fewer models, resulting in some models may not match the title.

For example, Guangzhou Automobile Honda Accord, a medium-sized sedan, has accumulated sales of 210574 vehicles in 2020, ahead of Camry and Maiteng, and is indeed the best-selling model in the market segment. However, CCTV does not have a clear definition of the "best-selling model".

For example, SAIC-Volkswagen VW won the title of "MPV of the year". According to inquiries, SAIC-VW sold 21506 vehicles in 2020, and many netizens think that Weiran won the title of "MPV of the year". "not to mention GL8, even Odyssey and Ericsson are not convinced." However, after checking the previous list, it is found that only a few MPV models of the 50 models appear on the list, and they are MPV models with a low sense of existence, such as GAC MOTOR M8 and Jianghuai Ruifeng L8 MAX. It seems that Volkswagen won the "MPV of the year" not because of its strength, but because there are fewer competing models on the list.

For example, Dongfeng Honda CR-V won the title of "SUV of the year". According to reason, models such as the Harvard H6 and Changan CS75 among the SUV models performed better than them, but CCTV did not specify what the "best" criteria were.

Overall, most of the models on the list still have a certain status in the market, including Honda Accord, Honda CR-V, Changan CS75 PLUS, Toyota Asian Dragon, Chery Tiger 8 PLUS and so on. However, there are no definite "restrictions" on the titles of most models, coupled with the fact that there are fewer models in the list that compete in the same class or in the same field, resulting in some models that do not have a strong sense of presence in the market but are still able to win "honorary titles".

It is understood that the campaign was officially launched on September 25, 2020. On November 2, CCTV Finance launched a national car voting campaign for the whole network, and the list of "Top 50 National cars in 2020" was released. On January 20, CCTV Finance will conduct the next round of voting on these 50 models, and finally select 30 shortlisted models of the year, 12 of which won awards.
