AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)01/22 Report--
According to several media reports, Su Weiming, executive vice president of Volkswagen Group, is about to leave Volkswagen Group. CEO Su Weiming will leave Volkswagen Group and Yijia Intelligence Co., Ltd., confirming that Su Weiming is leaving Volkswagen Group, according to documents released by Yijia Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group in China.
According to public data, Su Weiming was born in Singapore in 1966 and is originally from Guangdong. Prior to joining Volkswagen Group, Su Weiming served as Vice President of DaimlerChrysler China Investment Co., Ltd., and General Manager of sales and Marketing Department of Gyibug in Beijing. In March 2005, Su Weiming served as Vice President of Volkswagen Group in China, Deputy General Manager of FAW-Volkswagen Business and General Manager of sales Company, and entered the field of joint venture marketing. In 2016, Su Weiming was promoted to Executive Vice President of Volkswagen Group, and also served as President of Business Operations of Volkswagen Group Greater China and ASEAN countries, Director and Executive Vice President of Volkswagen Group (China), and Chairman of Volkswagen (China) sales Co., Ltd.
It is understood that Su Weiming's position is second only to Volkswagen Group Management Board member, Volkswagen China President and CEO Heizman, so Su Weiming is known as the most senior Chinese in Volkswagen China and even Volkswagen Group.
As the most senior Chinese in the Volkswagen Group, Su Weiming founded Volkswagen subsidiary Mobility Asia (Yijia Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.) in 2017. According to the plan, the company is mainly responsible for exploring a series of new businesses, including vehicle networking, smart travel, infrastructure, smart driving and big data applications. In addition, it also accelerates the transformation, development and strategic layout of Volkswagen, such as negotiations between Volkswagen Group and Jianghuai Automobile, improvement of travel ecosystem, layout of charging network and vehicle networking system, etc.
As Su Weiming holds several positions, it is not difficult to see that there will be a series of new personnel changes in Volkswagen Group in the future. It is understood that Volkswagen will not choose "someone" to replace Su Weiming, but will be responsible for its previous business to be taken over by four executives.
According to the data, Volkswagen Group continued to take the lead by selling 3.85 million vehicles in China in 2020, down 9.1% from the same period last year. However, the sales performance of its brands in 2020 has been mixed.
The Volkswagen brand and its subsidiary Jetta sold a total of 2.8511 million cars in 2020, of which the Jetta brand sold 155000. The Audi brand posted its best performance since entering China, with cumulative sales of 727400 vehicles this year, up 5.4 per cent from a year earlier. The Porsche brand sold 89000 vehicles in 2020, up 2.6 per cent from a year earlier. Skoda was the Volkswagen Group's biggest decline, falling 38.7% year-on-year to 173000 vehicles.
It is understood that Volkswagen Group plans to launch 25 new models this year, including 13 new energy models, and new energy vehicles will become a new growth point for Volkswagen Group. However, due to the shortage of semiconductor chips, it is expected to have an impact on the survival and delivery of Volkswagen Group.
