As a compact four-door coupe, EMPOW55 is based on Chuanqi GPMA platform, which will be the first model of the platform. As the new car has not yet been officially named, EMPOW55 is just a code name for it.

In terms of interior decoration, it is also the first exposure. The new car uses an integrated screen composed of a full liquid crystal instrument and a large-size central control LCD screen, with a penetrating air conditioning outlet and a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel. At the same time, the overall height of the central handbox of the new car is higher, and there is suspected to be a hollowed-out area under the front of the handle, which can increase the storage space of the car. In addition, the new car also uses a three-frame sports steering wheel.

In terms of power, the car will be equipped with a new generation of "giant wave power" assembly, or 1.5T, 2.0T engines and corresponding hybrid versions are optional.

GAC MOTOR, as an independent brand in China, has adhered to the development road of positive R & D since its establishment, and there have been ups and downs along the way, but some models have been recognized by the market. Judging from GAC GROUP's production and sales KuaiBao in 2020, the company's production and sales both exceeded 2 million vehicles for the whole year, of which automobile production totaled 2.0348 million, a slight increase of 0.54 percent over the same period last year, and sales of 2.0438 million vehicles, down slightly by 0.89 percent from the same period last year. However, independent brands are in a quagmire. GAC MOTOR sold 354000 vehicles in 2020, down 7.95% from the same period last year and falling for the second year in a row.
