AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)01/28 Report--
Electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular, but there are still some problems that restrict consumers' access, such as high price, inconvenient charging and high battery cost. Although it is said that the price of Tesla Model 3 has been continuously reduced since it was made in China, and the price has dropped to less than 250000 yuan after subsidy, recently, some Model 3 owners replaced their models' batteries and found that they cost about half the cost of the car.
According to foreign media reports, it was a Tesla Model 3 that hit a boulder, causing the battery pack running under the cockpit to malfunction.
The battery that needs to be replaced costs $13500 (88000 yuan), according to a repair list exposed by Current Automotive, an online sales website for used electric cars. At the same time, the Tesla after-sales department that carries out maintenance services charges a fee of 1135.75 yuan ($175) per hour, and the cumulative replacement time is more than 13 hours, plus other costs, including damaged front and body panels and other parts, resulting in a cumulative maintenance fee of $16500 (106000 yuan) for the Tesla Model 3.
If the Tesla Model 3 was purchased at a price of less than 300000 at that time, it means that the maintenance has already exceeded 30% of the whole vehicle. For example, according to the current domestic new car market, the maintenance cost is up to 40% of the whole vehicle price, which can be said to be quite high.
For the repair and maintenance of electric vehicles, the vast majority of electric car manufacturers offer a battery warranty of at least 8 years or 100000 miles, and the insurance also covers battery damage due to defects and production problems. However, man-made damage is not covered by the warranty. That is, the man-made accident of the Model 3 will be paid by the owner or the insurance company will be responsible.
Even if there is an insurance company to settle the claim for an accident, it will be a shadow for electric car consumers. After all, the accident is not big, only that the owner of the Model 3 hit a big stone while driving, causing damage to one of the battery packs. Because the battery pack is not a whole large battery, but consists of several modules, each module contains hundreds of battery units, once a module fails, it symbolizes that the whole battery pack can not work and can only replace the whole battery pack.
In other words, only a small accident, the car owner will bear such a large maintenance cost, if there is no insurance, the pressure on the car owner will be even greater. So, Tesla Model 3 just bumped into the maintenance and replacement battery costs nearly 110000, such a maintenance list will not make Tesla car owners feel pain?
As we all know, Tesla Model 3 is an electric model launched by Tesla for the mid-market, which increases market share in order to expand market competitiveness. Tesla continues to explore the price of this model in both domestic and foreign markets. At the same time, it is also Tesla's first model made in China, which currently sells for 249900 yuan after subsidy in China.
Data show that Tesla's total annual sales volume in 2020 was 499550 vehicles, of which Model S and Model X produced 54805 vehicles and delivered 57039 vehicles, while Model 3 and Model Y produced 454932 vehicles and delivered 442511 vehicles. The Model 3 is also the best-selling model under the brand.
