AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)01/29 Report--
Toyota once again launched a recall because of a defective fuel pump! According to the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, Guangzhou Auto Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration on January 29th, deciding to recall a total of 53000 Camry and Hanlanda cars from March 31, 2021.
In terms of models, it covers 44408 Camry cars produced between December 7, 2017 and April 23, 2018, and 8592 partial Hanlanda cars produced between December 10, 2018 and January 11, 2019.
The reason for the recall is that due to the imperfect resin forming conditions of the supplier in the manufacturing process of the low-pressure fuel pump impeller, the resin density of the impeller is insufficient, and the impeller may be inflated and deformed due to the influence of fuel. Interference with the shell of the low-pressure fuel pump leads to poor operation of the low-pressure fuel pump. In extreme cases, the vehicle may not be able to start normally or the engine is flameout while driving, and there is a safety hidden danger.
In view of the above defects, Guangzhou Auto Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. will replace the improved low-pressure fuel pump for vehicles within the recall range free of charge, in order to eliminate safety risks.
It is worth mentioning that this recall belongs to the extended recall of Camry and Hanlanda Automobile activities of Guangzhou Automobile Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. which was issued on November 6, 2020. The reason for the expansion of the recall is that through further in-depth investigation, it is confirmed that more vehicles may be carrying unqualified low-pressure fuel pumps, resulting in safety risks such as vehicles not starting normally.
On November 6, 2020, Toyota announced a recall of 401873 defective vehicles in China, of which 232351 were involved in Guangzhou Auto Toyota, including 187495 Camry cars produced from April 24, 2018 to May 24, 2019; and 44856 Henlanda cars produced from December 10, 2018 to July 11, 2019. The causes and solutions of the recall are consistent with this recall.
Judging from the two recalls, some Toyota domestic models produced in 2017 and 2018 were equipped with defective fuel pumps. The problem of fuel pump may lead to engine flameout during driving, and the driver can not control the vehicle according to his own intention, which is a great hidden danger.
In addition to Toyota, Honda has also had a strong domestic recall. Honda's joint ventures in China, Guangzhou Auto Honda and Dongfeng Honda, announced a recall of 1.088 million defective cars on December 25, 2020, almost covering a full range of mainstream models under the Honda and Acura brands. According to statistics, Honda is the manufacturer with the largest recall due to fuel pump defects in the domestic market.
In recent years, a number of Japanese car companies have launched large-scale recalls due to defects in fuel pumps produced by Japanese parts giant Denso. In the domestic market, many Japanese car companies, including Guangzhou Automobile Honda, Dongfeng Honda, FAW Toyota, Guangzhou Automobile Toyota, Changan Mazda, FAW Mazda, Guangzhou Automobile Mitsubishi and so on, all fell into the recall door because of fuel pump defects.
At present, the recall of the fuel pump is still going on, and with the deepening of the defect investigation, more brand vehicles are expected to be confirmed to have defective problems.
