AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/02 Report--

According to the latest figures released by Lexus on February 2nd, cumulative global sales in 2020 were 718715 vehicles, down 6 per cent from a year earlier. Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, global sales of Lexus fell 16 per cent year-on-year to 304000 in the first half and 415000 in the second half, up 2 per cent from a year earlier, officials said.

From the perspective of regional performance, many markets around the world have declined in Lexus. North America is Lexus's largest market, with cumulative sales of 297000 vehicles in 2020, but down 9 per cent from a year earlier. In the Japanese home market, Lexus sold only 49000 vehicles for the year, down 21% from a year earlier, the biggest decline. In Europe and the Middle East, Lexus saw double-digit year-on-year declines in sales.

The Chinese market is the only market for Lexus to grow in 2020. According to the data, the cumulative sales of Lexus in China reached 225000 in 2020, an increase of 11% over the same period last year. There are two interesting points in this. First, Lexus is still slightly inferior to Cadillac, which has annual sales of 230007 vehicles, ranking first among second-tier luxury brands. Second, Lexus focuses on the North American market. While the Chinese market has achieved an 11% year-on-year growth, there is still a gap of 70,000 vehicles between the Chinese market and the North American market, which means that Lexus can do a lot of action, and for the same market focus reasons, some market price increases have achieved such a strange circle, which also makes Lexus have some reservations in terms of price, introduction or domestic action. Due to the impact of the epidemic, Lexus did not take much action in China in 2020, only the MPV model Lexus LM and the new pure electric Lexus UX 300e were launched during the year.

China's luxury car market sold 2.5291 million vehicles in 2020, an increase of 14.7 percent over the same period last year, according to the Federation of passengers. From the perspective of the domestic luxury market, Lexus ranked fifth after BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Cadillac with a score of 225000 vehicles.

Of course, as the only luxury car brand that has not achieved domestic production, the terminal price of Lexus is relatively strong, and most models do not cut prices, but there are price increases. Compared with Cadillac, Volvo and other brands, only imported Lexus is undoubtedly successful.

It is understood that a change is brewing in Lexus in 2021. On February 2, Haoji Sato, president and chief brand officer of Lexus, said: "this spring, we will launch our new brand vision and new concept cars, explaining our plans for the future and marking the beginning of the next generation of Lexus. In addition, we will launch the first model under the new vision this year and continue to launch new models next year and beyond. "

A picture of the concept car released by Lexus shows that the car uses the Lexus logo's spindle intake grille, but the size is larger than the product currently on sale. In the rear part, in addition to the "Lexus" letters lit on the rear compartment cover, horizontal LED taillights are also used. In addition, it can be inferred from the picture that the model is a crossover or SUV, and its design concept may be implemented in future products. It is understood that this concept car will make its global debut this year.
