AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/08 Report--
The authoritative "Consumer report" released the ranking of automobile brands in 2021, through its exclusive tests and membership survey data, finally came to the best and worst car brands of the year. In the annual ranking, Tesla has surpassed the top spot from 10 places last year in only one year.
The Consumer report ranks and recommends car brands every year based on its exclusive tests and membership survey data. A brand must have at least two test models to enter the ranking, which is scored by road test, reliability survey, owner satisfaction survey and safety. the final ranking of the car brand is based on the average of the overall score of the brand model test.
The survey, which conducted an annual survey of 369000 vehicles in 2020, covered the models of 27 different companies, with most of the data coming from 2018-2020 models and some from several models in 2021.
The survey results show that the most obvious is that the US electric car brand Tesla rose to the first place again from 11th last year. It is worth mentioning that last year, Tesla brand jumped eight places compared with the previous year, becoming the biggest increase among 33 auto brand manufacturers. It can be seen that with the trend of new energy vehicles in recent years, Tesla has become the best car company. According to the specific score, Tesla got 88 points (out of 100).
The brand, second only to Tesla, is the second most popular car brand in the United States, with an overall score of 79, from the local Lincoln brand. Chrysler tied for third place with American pickup and truck brand Ram, with a score of 76. Porsche, which finished first with a high score of 86 last year, ranks fifth with only 74 points this year.
It is worth noting that in this score, brands such as Tesla and Lincoln, which are ranked earlier, do not score high, or even at a low level. For example, the reliability scores of Tesla and Lincoln brands are significantly lower than those of other brands, but the overall average is improved due to higher other indicators.
The latest annual automobile reliability survey report released by the Consumer report at the end of last year showed that Tesla was downgraded due to more and more Model Y problems, such as misplaced body panels, mismatched paint and even hair stuck in the paint. Moreover, this is not only reflected in the Model YJournal Model S and Model X models, for which Tesla was marked as not recommended in last year's Consumer report because his score was below average. Only Model 3 sedans are recommended.
Lincoln was affected by new SUV problems and recalls, and Ford's reliability score declined rapidly, so that Lincoln, who shared the platform with Ford, was also affected. But Ford ranked 22nd with only 38 points, putting it at the bottom of the list.
As for the list released by this year's Consumer report, the bottom three unpopular brands are Infiniti (48), Nissan (58) and Cadillac (59). Mercedes-Benz, which has long been the favorite luxury car company in North America, only ranked fifth from the bottom with 64 points in the report. The main reason is that Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac brands have low scores in terms of reliability and owner satisfaction. In contrast, brands such as Buick have high reliability rankings, but low satisfaction with car owners, resulting in lower rankings.
As a non-profit evaluation report magazine sponsored by the American Consumer Union, Consumer report publishes an annual report based on road tests, reliability data, car owner satisfaction surveys and safety performance. It buys all the cars to be tested on its own, and does not accept any promotion funds from automakers. However, because consumers have a relatively strong "subjective awareness" of the report, after all, there is no positive correlation between preference and actual sales or product quality, which simply represents the adhesion or loyalty of car owners to their own brands.
