Tesla was interviewed publicly again because of product issues. On the evening of February 8, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, together with the Central Internet Information Office, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport and the Fire Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Emergency Management, jointly interviewed Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., about abnormal acceleration reported by consumers, battery fire, vehicle remote upgrade (OTA) and other issues.

According to media statistics, there have been ten suspected abnormal acceleration incidents in China since May 2020. The most recent abnormal acceleration problem occurred on January 4. According to media reports, a Tesla in Taisheng Square in Linyi, Shandong Province suddenly rushed into the toilet and crashed into the sink before coming to a stop. The driver involved said the accident was caused by the "out of control" of the vehicle, which could not step on the brakes at that time. In response to the accident, Tesla responded that "the driver suddenly swerved sharply while driving and stepped on the brake pedal. Due to the stagnant water on the road, the vehicle was driving too fast at a sharp turn and the road was slippery."

After entering 2020, fire incidents of new energy vehicles have occurred frequently. As the leading enterprise of new energy vehicles, Tesla has also been exposed similar incidents. A Tesla Model 3 caught fire and exploded in a residential area in Shanghai's Minhang District on Jan. 19, leaving the Model 3 with only wheels and body frame. In response to the accident, Tesla responded that "according to the driver's own account and the analysis of the vehicle data, it is preliminarily determined that the accident was caused by a collision under the car."

In response to the interview between the five departments, Tesla issued a statement in response: Tesla sincerely accepted the guidance of government departments, deeply reflected on the shortcomings of the company in the business process, and comprehensively strengthened self-inspection. We will strictly abide by Chinese laws and regulations and always respect the rights and interests of consumers. At present, the company is strengthening the internal working mechanism and process and strengthening the internal management in all aspects under the guidance of the competent government departments. For the problems reflected by consumers, we will systematically investigate, earnestly implement the protection of consumers' rights and interests, further implement the main responsibility of enterprises for quality and safety, and effectively maintain social and public safety. we will better contribute to the healthy and healthy development of China's new energy vehicle market in the future.

In response to Tesla's interview, Xinhua News Agency said today that no one has the privilege of being "superior to others." Xinhua News Agency pointed out that "for some time, Tesla has frequently had quality problems, product safety risks are worrying, and there are still problems such as" throwing the pot "to blame, so it is imperative to strengthen supervision over him in accordance with the law. Market economy is an economy ruled by law. No matter what enterprises operate in China, they must abide by Chinese laws and regulations. No one has the privilege of being "superior to others", and no one has the 'advantage' of being outside the law. Xinhua News Agency said, "solid fulfillment of the main responsibility for quality and safety, honestly do a good job in products and services, and effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, is the way for enterprises to move forward."

Tesla sold 137459 vehicles in China in 2020, leading new energy models such as the Wuling Hongguang MINI and becoming the top seller of new energy vehicles, according to the Federation of passengers. On the first day of 2021, the price of Tesla's brand new model Tesla Model Y was reduced by 160000 yuan. The official website crashed, stores were overcrowded, delivery within two weeks and scheduling to the third quarter were enough to show Tesla's popularity in the domestic market. However, in contrast, Tesla is frequently out of control, spontaneous combustion and other problems, the quality and safety of products have aroused consumers' concern about it.

Tesla responded publicly to almost all accidents, but most of Tesla's survey results showed that they were caused by users, which was jokingly called "Pot-throwing Man" by netizens. Perhaps because the vehicle data is in the hands of Tesla, after each accident, users are unable to come up with strong evidence.

In a recent incident, Xinhuanet publicly criticized Tesla's behavior. At the end of January this year, Mr. Tu in Nanchang reported to the media that he had bought the Tesla Model 3 for only six days, but suddenly the power was cut off after charging with Tesla's official charging pile, and the car window could not be closed and could only be blocked with a piece of paper. Tesla responded after sale that the inverter of the vehicle was burned because the current of the national grid was too large.

On January 31st, State Grid Nanchang denied that "the inverter was burned down due to current overload" when it posted Weibo in the middle of the night, and suggested that Tesla ask professionals to carefully find out the cause of the vehicle charging fault. Tesla posted a public apology on Weibo on February 1 and went on a hot search at one point. Tesla neither denied nor admitted the product problem, but said that "the communication was recorded and selected the part about the State Grid for editing and dissemination. Causing misunderstandings among netizens."

In response to Tesla's response, Xinhuanet publicly named and criticized: "respond to consumer questions, can not be understated, can not be arrogant!"

It is worth mentioning that just a few days ago, Tesla CEO Musk publicly admitted the product problem. On Feb. 2, Musk admitted for the first time that Tesla had quality control problems, including wet paint and poor seats. It also said that "our production is like hell" and advised everyone to wait before buying. " As soon as the relevant report came out, it once again triggered a heated discussion among netizens.

Frequent product problems have gradually faded the halo of Tesla's brand. Xinhuanet commented publicly that the new energy vehicle market has let a hundred flowers blossom, and the attitude towards consumers determines the height of enterprise development. Only if consumers can be trusted can the enterprise go far; if it loses its reputation and credibility, no matter how good the marketing is, it will not help.
