According to exposed documents, this is Changan Ford is building a new project codenamed "C490 Pure Electric", and the new car is internally codenamed "C490 21MY". Similarly, this model is also a special product for the Chinese market.

According to the positioning of the model, the powertrain of the pure electric version of Changan Escape of the same group is expected to be used, and the service life of the new pure electric version of Forrest may exceed the 400km, which means that this may be a "shell-changing" Changan Yizou, with a reference to the new Forrest model on the declaration chart. In addition, due to the current Changan Ford does not have the relevant layout of pure electric cars, Forrest pure electric may be its first model.

In an era when joint venture brands still have certain advantages, Ford Forrest achieved considerable sales as soon as it was launched, with an average monthly sales of 25000 units in the highest year of 2017. even in 2018, when the auto industry is in the doldrums, it will be able to achieve monthly sales of 15000 units. However, with the gradual weakening of the Ford brand and the rise of domestic models, Ford Forrest fell to less than 3000 units in December last year, indicating that sales are not optimistic.

Of course, this is not the problem of Forrest models. Judging from the situation of Changan Ford as a whole, as the "profit cow" of Changan, the Ford era seems to be gone forever, with sales peaking at nearly one million in 2016 and now 253300 vehicles in 2020. Changan Ford has fallen by nearly 3/4, which shows that the situation is not good.

If this is the problem of Changan, now that Changan has successfully surpassed Geely in its own brand and won the monthly sales champion of its own brand, then Changan can climb up, but why does Changan Ford stop and decline instead?
