AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/02 Report--

According to foreign media reports, Mitsubishi Motors released a brand-new generation of Outlander overseas prices. Eight new models were launched, including the entry-level ES model starting at $26,990, the SE model at $30,040 and the SEL model at $33,140. It is understood that the new Outlander is expected to begin delivery in April.

As a replacement model, the appearance of the new Outlander changes significantly from the current model. The front face of the brand-new Outlander adopts a brand-new split air intake grille, the upper grille is decorated with a large number of chrome trim strips, the headlights on both sides adopt split design, the high and low headlights adopt matrix design, and there is a separate fog lamp area below, so the overall shape is heavier and tougher than that of the old model. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new Outlander are 4680/1860/1747mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2705mm, among which the wheelbase is increased from 2669mm to 2705 mm.

Mitsubishi's brand-new generation of Outlander interior center console adopts T-shaped layout, air conditioning outlet adopts through-type design, equipped with brand-new four-spoke multi-function steering wheel, 9-inch multimedia display screen and 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel. In addition, the new car also provides a brand-new electronic shifting mechanism, compared with the old model of science and technology has been greatly improved.

In terms of power, the new car is equipped with the PR25 DD 2.5L engine of the same model as the brand-new Qijun, with a maximum power of 184 horsepower and a peak torque of 245N·m, matched with a CVT gearbox. In addition, the new car will also offer two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models for consumers to choose from.

According to previous reports, the new Outlander is the first Mitsubishi new car launched by Reynolds-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. It is built on the same platform as Nissan Qijun. The new car will be launched first in the United States, Canada and other markets, and then launched six times around the world.

Unsurprisingly, the new domestic Outlander will be available in 2022. In October last year, GAC Mitsubishi issued a new car project code-named "5A45" and planned to be put into production in 2022. According to the life cycle of the current domestic Outlander and the release time of the new Outlander, the new car project is likely to be the new Outlander. Different from overseas models, the domestic brand-new Outlander or equipped with 1.5T engine, as well as 2.0L engine and electric motor constitute PHEV plug-in hybrid power system, and pure electric vehicles may be launched in the future.

At present, GAC Mitsubishi has only three models on sale, namely Outlander, Jinxuan and Yige, among which Outlander is Mitsubishi's highest sales model, with a cumulative sales volume of 57,096 vehicles in 2020, accounting for more than 76% of the total sales volume. GAC Mitsubishi plans to speed up the iteration of product renewal and increase sales volume by speeding up the introduction of new cars. However, there is still one year before the launch of new cars, and the development of GAC Mitsubishi in the domestic market will continue to languish.

According to the data, the sales volume of GAC Mitsubishi in January 2021 was 5,400 vehicles, compared with 8,279 vehicles in the same period last year, down 34.77% year-on-year.
