As of March 5, four Japanese car companies, including Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda, have announced their latest monthly views in China one after another. Overall, the sales performance of the four Japanese brands in China is basically the same, that is, there was a large month-on-month decline in February, but a large year-on-year increase in sales from January to February.
According to the latest figures released by Toyota, Toyota sold 117400 vehicles in China in February, down 38.05 per cent from the previous month to 306900 from January to February, up 81.4 per cent from a year earlier.
Judging from the data, Toyota's performance is more eye-catching than Honda and Nissan, mainly due to the continued hot sales of Carola, RAV4 Rongfang, Asian Dragon, Leiling, Camry, Wellanda, Hanlanda and other models. The continued best-selling of a number of models has led to steady growth in Toyota sales in China.
It is understood that Toyota will release a number of new cars this year. Among them, FAW Toyota Asia Lion plans to be officially launched on March 29th, while Guangzhou Auto Toyota Ling Shang plans to launch in the first half of the year. The two models are based on TNGA architecture, positioning A + class cars, and wheelbase 2750mm. The new Hanlanda is expected to go on sale in the second quarter of this year, with a wheelbase of 2850mm and a 2.5L hybrid system, improving its appearance and space. In addition, the "FAW Toyota version" Hanlanda and domestic Harrier are also planned to be launched this year.
Honda's sales performance slightly underperformed Toyota. Honda sold 239000 vehicles in China from January to February, up 48.0 per cent from a year earlier, according to the data. Among them, sales in February were 81600, down 48.19% from the previous month.
At present, Guangzhou Auto Honda has a relatively rich product line, with cars including Feido, Ling Pai and Accord, SUV with colorful Intelligence, Haoying and Guandao, and MPV models with Odyssey. Although Dongfeng Honda's product line is not as rich as Guangzhou Auto Honda, it is also expanding. Dongfeng Honda launched the Civic hatchback in July last year and LIFE in December, filling the gap in the small car market.
It is understood that Honda may launch a number of new cars this year, including the Honda EA6, the new generation of colorful wisdom, the medium-term revamped Accord, the "Guangzhou Automobile Honda version" Civic, the new generation Civic, to expand the product camp or usher in new sales growth.
Nissan mainly depends on the volume of Xuanyi, Teana, Xiaoke and Qijun. Nissan China: sold 221900 vehicles in China from January to February, up 66.5 per cent from a year earlier, according to data. Among them, sales in February were 75600, down 48.29% from the previous month.
Xuanyi sold 28638 vehicles that month, Teana sold 7486, Qijun and Xiaoke sold 10113 and 9059 respectively.
From the model point of view, Dongfeng Nissan mainly depends on the volume of Xuanyi, in the car field, in addition to Lang Yi can fight with one, other models can hardly shake the status of Xuanyi. However, compared with Toyota and Nissan, Nissan still has fewer products to achieve volume, especially the Xuanyi model, once out of favor Dongfeng Nissan sales will fall off the cliff. It is understood that the new Qijun and the new Xiaoke have been released and are expected to be introduced this year, which will also enhance the competitiveness of Nissan's products in China.
The last Japanese car company is Mazda, whose sales in China are far less than those of the above three brands. According to the data, sales in China in February were 10600, down 48.8% from the previous month. The cumulative sales from January to February were 31200, up 33.3% from a year earlier.
As for the joint venture, FAW Mazda sold 2759 vehicles in February and Changan Mazda sold 7798 units. From January to February, there were 8998 FAW Mazdas and 22193 Changan Mazdas. It can be said that FAW Mazda has seriously reduced the overall performance of Mazda in China, which has a lot to do with the lack of wealth of its product camp.
Earlier, there were media reports that the new Mazda CX-5 will use a new rear-wheel drive platform with a 3.0L six-cylinder in-line engine and a four-wheel drive system on the high-end model. In addition, Mazda will expand its cooperation with Toyota. In the future, Mazda will launch models equipped with Toyota THS hybrid technology in China.
Overall, as a result of the epidemic in February last year, a number of Japanese car companies achieved a substantial increase in sales in the first two months. It is precisely because of the epidemic that the month-on-month performance in February is more meaningful than the same period last year, and because of the Spring Festival in February, the number of working days in the month is significantly reduced, which is bound to affect sales, so a month-on-month decline in sales by many car companies is also expected.
