AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/13 Report--
Although the MPV market is not as popular as SUV and cars, compared with SUV and car markets, the current layout of automobile companies in the MPV market is smaller, which makes the competitive pressure in this market is not so fierce. Nowadays, with the increase of consumer travel demand, many car companies begin to launch MPV models.
It is understood that this year, Beijing Hyundai will launch a new MPV model, the internal code name is KU, the car English name CUSTO, is Hyundai's first MPV model. Beijing Hyundai's first MPV may debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, mass production in May and then its official launch in the third quarter, according to documents released by the online car Market. The main competitors of the new car are Honda Odyssey / Ericsson, Chuanqi M8 and other MPV models, which are expected to start at around 170000 yuan.
Recently, the patent application picture of Hyundai's first MPV model, CUSTO, has been exposed, and there has been a real car picture of the car before, which further confirms the previous conjecture.
From the patent map, although the modern CUSTO belongs to the MPV model, it is somewhat different from the traditional MPV. The CUSTO front face uses a dot matrix chrome grille design, which is different from the current Hyundai model front design, the huge China net occupies most of the front front position. From the side of the body, the CUSTO uses a side sliding door design, the roof uses a split skylight, the cockpit is a small skylight, and the back row is a large skylight.
CUSTO follows the 10th generation of Sonata's four-frame steering wheel and push-button shift mechanism, the car is equipped with the latest multi-function steering wheel and vertical large-size central control screen, it is expected that there will be minor adjustments in the interior configuration of future production models. As for the layout, it is expected to be consistent with Kia Jiahua, adopting the layout of 2'2'3 or 2'2'2.
At present, there is no specific power information for the new car. Considering that Chuanqi M8, Roewe IMAX8, Odyssey / Ericsson and other models are equipped with 2.0T engine, it is speculated that the CUSTO is expected to carry the same 2.0T engine of Sonata, maximum power 176.5kw, maximum torque 353N ·m, matched with 8AT gearbox.
With regard to naming, Beijing Hyundai has applied for trademarks such as Kusto, Qualantu, Kaisto, Kushito and other trademarks, which may become the final naming of the new car.
Figures show that Beijing Hyundai sold 29015 vehicles in February, with a market share of 2.5%, but still failed to make it into the top 15 in the first two months. It can be said that, as a major Korean carmaker, Hyundai has been reduced to a third-tier joint venture brand in China, and its product power and brand reputation are being hit. Of course, with the continuous update of Beijing Hyundai's products, it is expected to return to normal market performance in the future, but it is still not optimistic in the short term.
As far as the MPV market is concerned, the current domestic middle and high-end MPV market is basically occupied by Buick GL8, Wuling Capgemini, Ericsson, Chuanqi M8 and other models, so as the first MPV model under Hyundai Automobile, CUSTO should achieve differential competition, which is an urgent problem for Hyundai Automobile to consider.
