AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/14 Report--

Tesla had another brake failure in China, and the salesperson refused to accept the on-site change test and then failed to drive into the ditch, and this scene happened to be recorded by the car owner!

Mr. Meng from Haikou, Hainan bought a Tesla in January this year, and when he drove to work to park on March 11, he found that the car could not stop at all, according to Live Hainan. Mr. Meng told the media that the speed before braking was about 20km-30km. During the braking period, he stepped on the brakes three times, but the first two brakes were not stable. The third time the brakes were slammed to death, and the car still could not stop. Finally, the vehicle drove directly into the ditch.

At first, Mr. Meng suspected that it might have something to do with his driving mode or road conditions. Mr. Meng contacted Tesla's official. Then the after-sales staff came to the scene and drove another Tesla to test. As a result, the after-sales staff also drove into the ditch without braking, and the scene was recorded by Mr. Meng sitting in the back row with his mobile phone.

The video shows the after-sales staff driving Tesla forward, and a woman in the car told the after-sales staff to "put on the brakes on the front two feet and step on the other foot directly to death", but after a series of operations, Tesla did not stop and drove into the ditch again. The lady in the car joked, "now is it time to call a trailer to tow your car?"

The lady asked the after-sales staff: "is it possible to step on the first two feet, but not on the third foot?" In this regard, Tesla after-sales staff said, "maybe (the road) is too slippery." The lady said, "it's not whether it's slippery, it's that the brakes can't go down."

On March 13th, Mr. Meng accompanied the media to the Tesla Haikou after-sales service center and saw the after-sales staff who experimented with overturning at that time. The reporter questioned the after-sales staff, "at that time, the brakes could not be pressed or the brakes could not be put on". The after-sales staff refused to respond, saying that "this issue has been communicated with the car owner before, and the details are subject to official announcement."

Subsequently, a staff member who coordinated Mr. Meng's vehicle accident told the media that after Mr. Meng's vehicle accident, the background data were analyzed and no abnormality was found in the vehicle. The person in charge said that Tesla's cars had computer driving data, and we looked at the background driving data to analyze the situation at that time. All the systems were operating normally, and there was no loss of control or brake problems.

In addition, for the situation that occurred when the after-sales personnel were driving the vehicle on the same day, the responsible person said, "according to the situation of the terrain at that time, when the vehicle was making an emergency brake, Tesla ABS anti-lock braking system started, but it may not be possible to stop the car completely in a short distance.

Mr. Meng expressed some doubts about the statement made by the person in charge and hoped that the official Tesla would give an exact explanation. Mr. Meng said that now he was a little worried about driving Tesla. When he saw the car in front of him, he began to slow down far away, worried that he could not stop the car and hit it.

In response to this incident, Tesla officially issued a new explanation this morning in response.

Tesla said that according to the vehicle data, after the owner stepped on the brake pedal, the vehicle braking system and ABS worked normally, but the brake pressure was lower at the initial stage of pressing the brake pedal, and the brake pressure increased significantly only half a second before the collision. No faults of acceleration pedal, braking system and drive unit were found in the whole process. Combined with the on-site photos provided by the car owner, we can see that there are a lot of sand and gravel on the ground, and it is relatively muddy because of a large amount of stagnant water. we preliminarily judge that the accident is mainly due to the slippery ground and the lighter range of the brake pedal when the owner first stepped on the brake pedal, resulting in longer braking distance.

In order to determine the exact cause of the accident, Tesla returned to his driving state at the time of the collision and drove another Tesla vehicle to test and simulate the braking distance on the road section of the accident. When using two different braking methods, the vehicle also starts with ABS, and the braking distance is longer than that on dry roads. The test reproduces the skidding state of the vehicle described by the owner and stops within a safe distance under the test condition of continuous high-strength braking. In addition, Tesla also stressed that the vehicle data is read by the vehicle gateway and encrypted storage. The stored data is recorded by encryption technology, and the relevant data can not be read, modified or deleted directly.

After Tesla released the collision description of the accident, it once again triggered a heated discussion among netizens. When we wanted to see what netizens think of Tesla's explanation, we found that Tesla once again closed the comment area.
