More and more new models have been added to the domestic planning list as Toyota has stepped up its efforts to launch products in China and enhance the status of the Chinese market within the group. Judging from the current news, Toyota has accelerated the implementation of the two-car strategy in China, and many new cars will have two versions of Guangzhou Auto Toyota and FAW Toyota at the same time.

Recently, the media exposed FAW Toyota's three new car plans. According to the exposure information, they are Toyota's new Harrier code-named "941B", a Feng version of Hanlanda "Crown Lu Fang" with internal code "770B", and a domestic brand-new Senna with internal code "018D". The mass production time and output of the model are also exposed in the information.

Harrier

Although the Harrier is a new Toyota model, it is based on the new RAV4 co-platform and is regarded as a "sedan version" of the RAV4. The Harrier is scheduled for mass production in November with a monthly production capacity of 5000 vehicles. It is worth mentioning that Guangzhou Auto Toyota also has a Harrier version of the model, the internal code is 942B, the new car may be named "Feng Landa", but the final name of the car has not been officially confirmed and production is expected to start in February 2022.

The Harrier model, as the "twin model" of the Lexus RX, was first born in 1997, positioning the compact SUV, and now the new car will position the entry-level five-seat medium-sized SUV, between the RAV4 and the Hanlanda.

In terms of appearance, the new Toyota Harrier uses a simple and sharp design style, with flat and narrow headlights connected to the upper central grille, supplemented by chrome strips, broadening the horizontal visual effect of the front face. The overall design of the car is more sleek than the founder's RAV4. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4740/1855/1660mm and the wheelbase is 2690mm.

Crown Lu Fang

It had been reported that FAW Toyota would abandon the long-standing and high-end brand name "Crown", but with the layout of the "two-car strategy", FAW Toyota seemed to integrate it into a SUV, a medium-sized SUV based on TNGA architecture.

Since the model is a sister model of the Henlanda, according to Toyota practice, the two cars will be built on the same platform, with similar overall contours, and both will continue the look of the Halanda, as can be seen from the newly released patent drawings. Although Toyota's LOGO is not shown on the patent map, it is similar to the Toyota Crown logo.

According to the latest news, FAW Toyota Hanlanda was named "CROWN KLUGER", literally translated as "Crown-Hanlanda", but as Hanlan's name has been used by GAC Toyota, it is speculated that the Chinese name of Yifeng Hanlanda will be "Crown-Lu Fang".

According to the previous EIA information, the planned annual production capacity of Crown-Lufang is about 50,000 vehicles, and the average monthly target sales is about 4,000 vehicles, which is similar to that of Anke Banner and explorers. Together with GAC Toyota's production capacity of 90, 000 vehicles, the total production capacity of the car in China will reach 140000.

Sienna

Although Toyota Sienna has been in the Chinese market for a long time, the news that the MPV model was first introduced was only last year. The new Toyota Sienna was officially launched overseas in May last year. The new car is based on Toyota TNGA-K platform and is powered by 2.5L hybrid power and offers four-wheel drive options. In the future, it will also be introduced by Guangzhou Auto Toyota and FAW Toyota respectively.

As Guangzhou Auto Toyota has registered Chinese and English trademarks related to Sienna, it has been learned from the previous State Trademark Bureau that FAW Toyota has registered a number of new trademarks, including "VIELLA", "VIEILLOT" and their transliterated trademarks "Wilner" and "Willu". Guess FAW Toyota brand-new MPV may be launched with "will" series products.

However, compared with the above two models, FAW Toyota still has a long time to introduce the Sienna. According to the exposure, the new car will begin trial production in September 2022 and then go into production in December 2022. The new car will have a monthly production capacity of about 5320 vehicles after its launch.

In appearance, the new car continues the overseas version, which is slightly similar to the front face design of Harrier, and the whole car design is rich in many lines. At the same time, the new Senna as a whole is larger than Toyota's Elfa, but slightly smaller than the Buick GL8.

As Toyota adjusts its domestic product line, it has clearly felt that Toyota is gradually accelerating its "two-car strategy" in China. Since 2018, Toyota has successively introduced a number of TNGA architecture models, such as Camry, Leiling, Asian Dragon, Carola and so on, which have become the main source of Toyota sales in China. In the future, Toyota will launch a "two-car strategy" of more models to accelerate the expansion of Toyota's market share in China.

According to the data, Toyota brand sales in February 2000 were 91181, down 44.71% from the previous month, up 684.89% from a year earlier, ranking second behind Volkswagen among all brands. Among them, FAW Toyota beat Guangzhou Auto Toyota, with sales of 50051 vehicles in February, down 33.89% from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 718.23%. The latter sold 41130 vehicles in February, down 53.89 per cent from a month earlier and up 647.82 per cent from a year earlier.
