Great Wall Motor's WEY brand announced on its official social platform on March 25 that orders for the tank 300 will be suspended from March 29. The reason for the suspension of sales is not due to major quality problems or chip shortages of the outside-reported tank 300, but because of "insufficient production capacity and need to be revamped."

According to the official notice issued by WEY, orders for the tank 300 have continued to rise since its launch, and there has been a backlog of orders, resulting in a long delivery waiting period for many users. In order to improve this phenomenon, there will be a "temporary suspension of sales" and 50 new production line robots. Production is expected to stop on March 29 and resume on April 10.

This situation is very rare in the current new car market, which is also because the Tank 300 is so recognized by the market.

Data show that the cumulative sales of the WEY brand in January this year were 12018, up 20% from the previous month and 88% from the same period last year, of which 6018 tanks were sold, accounting for about 50% of the WEY brand sales. This means that WEY can achieve double growth, which is entirely driven by the Tank 300. before that, WEY sales shrank to a certain extent.

In February, which is affected by the Spring Festival holiday this year, tank 300 can still reach 3300, accounting for more than 60% of sales, equivalent to surpassing the three models of VV5, VV6 and VV7, which shows that the sales performance of tank 300 is relatively optimistic.

At the same time, the tank 300 is not like some brands in terms of sales, but there has been an increase in prices. It is understood that after the launch of the tank 300 can only be ordered through the official APP platform. New car reservation can not be booked through the dealer, all booking operations can only be carried out through the WEY brand APP, including car selection, booking, car purchase process can be carried out in the app side, after the new car reservation is carried out in the 4S store. To some extent, it maintains the reputation of the brand.

Tank 300 is popular because of its first hard-line SUV based on a tank platform, which carries a self-developed engine from the Great Wall and represents the highest level of technology of its own brand. At the same time, it also matches the hard-core chassis, three locks, peristaltic mode, tank turns and other off-road weapons, and the price is only about 200000 yuan, which will greatly reduce the threshold of the hard off-road market of 500000 yuan.

At present, Tank 300 has also announced that it will be independent, which means that Tank 300 will independently become the representative of a hardline brand under the Great Wall. Maybe the Great Wall wants to use its word-of-mouth to focus on a "hardline off-road" market. But it has always been a niche market, and it remains to be seen whether it can support Great Wall to operate an independent brand. At the same time, the independence of the brand also means that the corresponding R & D and marketing costs will increase, which will bring great operational pressure to Great Wall Motor.
