AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/25 Report--
According to a number of media reports, including the Financial Associated Press, Dai Lei, former chief executive and co-founder of Baiteng, will go to Evergrande to work for Evergrande, the specific position of which is still not clear.
Media reports also mentioned that Dai Lei visited the headquarters of Evergrande a few days ago and was received by senior executives of Evergrande at that time. A senior executive of Baiteng Motor has also said that there has been such news before, but it does not seem to have been finalized yet.
In response to the above situation, some media have asked Dai Lei for verification, but no response has been received as of the press release. At the same time, the relevant companies did not respond.
According to public information, Dai Lei left as the former founder and CEO of Baiteng in October last year, and then transferred to another company that has not been disclosed. Prior to that, Dai Lei had nearly 20 years of working experience in the automotive industry.
From 2002 to 2007, he served as Planning Manager, Product Manager and Development Manager at BMW headquarters in Munich; after serving as Director of Business Development in Greater China in 2005, he became Senior Vice President of Marketing of brilliance BMW Co., Ltd. Joined Infiniti in 2013 as General Manager of Infiniti China and General Manager of Dongfeng Infiniti Automobile Co., Ltd., responsible for China operations.
It was not until 2016 that he joined the field of "new cars" and co-founded Baiteng Automobile with Bi Fukang, a former vice president of BMW Group.
Originally thought that after a successful cooperation with FAW Group, it would promote the research and development and mass production of the brand's first model, the M-Byte, but ran out of funds and shut down. CCTV commented that "8.4 billion yuan could not be burned up to build a mass production car." Baiteng car, which ran out of money, came to the point of stopping production, and financing difficulties further aggravated the company's operating crisis, which eventually led to employee wage arrears and shutdown. Some people in the industry believe that when Dai Lei was in office, Baiteng was also widely criticized for indiscriminately burning money.
Dai Lei, the former founder and CEO of Baiteng, also left last October. At the board of Baiteng Motor, Dai Lei, then CEO, announced the company's decision to suspend operations in mainland China from July 1. Now the two founders of Baiteng Motors have left the company separately, and Bi Fujian was revealed to have left in 2019 and transferred to FF. As a result, the mass production model M-Byte of Baiteng has not been able to achieve mass production so far.
Judging from the information that Evergrande has announced, Evergrande has entered the key link after car construction. Judging from Evergrande's previous plans, the layout is already very compact, including model release, testing, publicity, etc., and it is expected that Evergrande "Hengchi" series models will be mass produced in the second half of 2021, when the production workshop reaches full production. You can produce one car per minute. According to the plan, Evergrande will achieve annual production capacity of about 1 million vehicles by 2025 and 5 million by 2035. At present, the two major production bases in Shanghai and Guangzhou have started trial production at the end of 2020.
So far, Evergrande has released Hengchi 1, Hengchi 2, Hengchi 3, Hengchi 4, Hengchi 5, Hengchi 6, Hengchi 7, Hengchi 8 and Hengchi 9, covering A to D class models, as well as cars, sedan cars, SUV, MPV and crossovers. It is worth mentioning that none of the Hengchi models have been pre-sold or listed on the market.
It can be seen that Evergrande's demand for "related people" is also increasing, if Dai Lei joins Evergrande, it will also work in the field of "new cars". However, for Dai Lei, who is known to be good at burning money, to join Evergrande, which is good at circling money, what effect it will have will also be expected.
