AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/26 Report--

Following the suspension of production of the American version of Mondeo, Ford recently said that its plant in Valencia, Spain, would end production of Mondeo models in March 2022. A Ford spokesman said that consumers' car preferences have changed and Ford is gradually improving its passenger car product range in Europe to meet the brand's transition to all-electric vehicles and to respond to changing customer needs.

Ford has previously said that only electric cars will be sold in Europe by 2030 and plans to provide an electric version of every car on sale by 2026 to become an all-electric brand.

Mondeo is Ford's first global model, the first generation model was launched in 1993, the second generation model was launched in 2000, the third generation model was launched in 2007, and the fourth generation model was launched in 2013. It has a history of nearly 30 years. However, Mondeo's market share began to shrink as consumers preferred SUV models, with figures showing that Mondeo sold only 21053 cars in Europe in 2020. Perhaps it is for this reason that Ford plans to stop production.

In July 2020, Ford announced that it would stop production of the Mondeo, and it will also stop production in the European market in the future, but it does not involve the domestic market, which means that the Mondeo will become a special Chinese model. As a medium-sized car, Mondeo has launched five generations of models in China, but because it has not been replaced for many years, its product power and design beauty have been unable to keep up with the development of the times, with cumulative sales of 24632 vehicles in 2020.

Although Mondeo will stop production, Ford will launch new models to make up for the gap in the market after Mondeo discontinued production. According to media reports, Ford plans to launch a new cross-driving car, or Ford Mondeo Evos, in the United States and other countries, which is expected to make its official debut in 2022.
