Recently, a research report on the quality performance of Chinese automobile products shows that the degree of complaint of German and American brands in 2020 is higher than the average level of the Chinese industry.

It is understood that this study mainly relies on the defective automobile product information collection platform vehicle quality network, sponsored by Kerry Saichi Consulting, and mainly focuses on the research on automobile enterprises to improve product quality control, design capability, and product market positioning level. The models involved in the survey include 44 brands and a total of 164 models. The research approach is problem-oriented and represents the interviewees' views on the overall quality of the vehicle by negative performance (negative performance = number of problems X complaint degree).
From the perspective of national models, the negative performance of independent brands is better than that of joint venture and luxury brands, mainly because the degree of complaint is lower; the degree of complaint of German and American brands is higher than the industry average, among which the static and dynamic dimensions of German brands are higher than those of other national brands; the static dimension of independent brands is higher than that of other countries, and the most dynamic dimension is Korean brands. It is worth noting that the Japanese brands that perform better as a whole have the lowest number of problems and complaints.
From the perspective of vehicle performance, only the car sector is better than the industry average, mainly because the problem and the degree of complaint are the lowest, while the number of SUV problems is more than the average; MPV has the highest degree of complaint.
In terms of automobile problems, the number of quality problems in the industry is mainly concentrated in four aspects: driving system, engine, intelligent car machine, and gearbox, while the number of problems with intelligent car machine has obviously increased by 78%, and the negative performance has increased by 107%. These aspects are highly reflected in independent, American and European brands.
Among the Top10 problems in the industry, gear shift setbacks, abnormal gearbox noise and abnormal engine jitter ranked in the top three, among which the proportion of industry-wide shift setbacks increased by 94%, mostly in American, German and Korean brand models.
For the number of key issues of the country, the models of national brands account for a relatively large number of problems in the dynamic dimension, among which the Top5 problem situation dynamic dimension of Korean brands. It is worth noting that for Japanese brands which have always been leading in quality control, it is also surprising that they account for a large proportion in the static dimension. Data show that in 2020, China implemented a total of 199 vehicle recalls, involving 6.782 million vehicles, the number of recalls decreased by 10.8% compared with the previous year, and the number of recalls increased by 3.9%. From the perspective of the assembly involved, the engine and braking system are the main defect-producing components, accounting for 80.6% of the total recall. The maximum number of recalls due to engine-related defects was 58, involving 4.404 million vehicles.
Tang Weiguo, chairman of Automotive quality Network and Carey Consulting, also said that the physical quality of Chinese automotive products is rising significantly, but consumers' demand and expectations for automotive products, especially the anchoring level of quality perception, are also rising rapidly. this will also redefine car quality.
In the future, the research will also increase market segments such as new energy, expand the number of models, and update questionnaires in the dimensions of new technologies and new types of complaints.
