Why didn't the airbag be opened?" Judging from the pictures of the incident, Tesla Model 3 front engine damage is very serious, the front cover is folded by force, and the hub is broken.

The owner said that because the airbag did not eject, it quickly bounced back the seat headrest after hitting the steering wheel during the accident, resulting in a large bag in front and back of the head, two dislocation of cervical vertebrae, concussion and multiple abrasions on the legs and arms. The owner sighed that if he hadn't fastened his seat belt at that time, he would have flown out.

In response to the Tesla incident, the car owner put forward three demands: 1, return the car; 2, purchase commercial medical insurance to protect the problems that may arise behind; 3, compensation for mental damage, late work fee. However, the car owner said that Tesla did not accept the request and advised the car owner to take insurance because there was nothing wrong with the vehicle.

According to the owner's description, the owner was asked to talk to the after-sales center by Tesla after sale, and the analysis of various data showed that the vehicle was not abnormal, which was a problem with the owner's operation. As for the problem that the airbag did not pop, the technical director said at that time that it was because "it did not hit the sensor". Later, the after-sales manager interrupted the technical supervisor, saying that it was because "the first impact slowed down the speed." as a result, the second impact airbag did not meet the conditions to bounce off.

In this regard, the car owner raised five major questions: 1, the car turned automatically when self-driving; 2, the steering wheel was stuck and could not be turned; 3, the car was almost scrapped and the airbag did not eject; 4, the video of the driving recorder disappeared; 5, the official reply that there was no problem with the airbag was not a design defect.

Tesla customer Service Center responded to the incident on Weibo on March 27: the driver turned on the active assistance function while driving, and then left his hands off the steering wheel. According to the driver's recollection, he was in the habit of taking milk and inserting it at a speed of 52.5km per hour. Three seconds after the hands left the steering wheel, the driver took over the vehicle again and twisted the steering wheel hard to push out the auxiliary steering. Then, under the control of the driver, the vehicle deflected to the left and collided. After the deflection, the position of the left front wheel broke through the isolation zone for the first time and rubbed against the street tree at a speed of 50km per hour. Combined with the situation that the headlights and doors are not damaged, the conditions for airbag ejection are not met. As the vehicle collided with the second street tree to the right, the speed was 18km per hour. Tesla also mentioned that when the front and bottom of the vehicle collide with narrow objects such as roadsides or brick posts at low speed, the front airbag may not pop off in order to avoid unnecessary injury to passengers.

Whether or not it is because it did not hit the airbag trigger point, or the system misjudgment led to a sudden turn, the most powerful explanation is the background data. However, the owner mentioned that the video of the car recorder at the time of the incident disappeared.
