Recently, the Trademark Office of the State intellectual property Office has exposed the registered trademark of a model of NIO, which shows that Shanghai Lulai Automobile Co., Ltd. has registered a new trademark, named EF9. According to the current series of products, EF will be a new product type.

At present, there is not much news about the new car, but there is speculation that it may be the launch of the MPV model. According to the current vehicle positioning, ES is located in SUV, EC is located in sedan SUV, ET is located in car, and EP is located in super sports car, so it is very likely that this is a high-end MPV according to the product model and its naming rules that are not available at present.

From the product positioning of existing models, ES6 and EC6, as entry-level SUV models, are priced at 35.8-526000 yuan, while ET7, as its first car, has been priced at 44.8-526000 yuan, and the higher-end SUV model, ES8, is priced at 46.8-624000 yuan. Then the price of EF9 may be higher, or the starting price may exceed 500000 yuan.

Although the fourth model, the ET7, has been launched in Xilai, the actual delivery of the model will not be achieved in the first quarter of 2022. According to this plan, the EF9 may be released at this year's NIO Day, but the actual delivery may be more distant. However, at present, except for the name of the model, all the information has not been disclosed, if there is any update progress, we will continue to pay attention. At the same time, there are also those who think that the declaration does not represent any new cars, but only to protect their own named sequences.

However, as more and more traditional car companies pour into the domestic new energy market and accelerate the introduction of models in various segments, it is bound to have an impact on the new power car companies with a single model, if the product layout is slow, they may be the first to seize the market by such car companies, waiting for the products to officially land, which means that it will be more difficult to divide the market segment "cake". In this regard, accelerating the layout of products is also one of the main strategic plans of the new forces.

Although NIO is the best performing brand among the new power car companies, and maintains an obvious growth trend, its share in the domestic new energy market is still small. According to the data, the cumulative delivery volume of Xilai cars was 43728 in 2020; 7225 and 5578 new cars were delivered in January and February 2021, respectively, an increase of 352 per cent and 689 per cent over the same period last year.
