On March 31, the joint-venture brand Shenlong Automobile couldn't wait to release the sales data for the first quarter. Sales increased 175% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2021 for four consecutive months, according to the Shenlong poster, but no specific sales figures were released.

According to the data previously released by Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd., the sales volume of Shenlong Automobile in the first quarter of 2020 is 6385 vehicles. According to the year-on-year growth of 175%, the sales volume of Shenlong Automobile in the first quarter of 2021 is about 11174 vehicles.

Is the quarterly sales of 11174 vehicles good? The sales growth of 175% in the first quarter of Shenlong Automobile seems to be very good, but based on the impact of the epidemic situation on the domestic automobile market and Wuhan City in the same period last year, in fact, the performance of Shenlong Automobile is not outstanding, but compared with before, there is indeed a certain improvement. In addition, compared with the more representative 2019, the cumulative sales volume of DPCA in the first quarter of 2019 was 34658 vehicles, compared with a 67.75% decline in sales volume in the first quarter of this year. According to the previous announcement of Shenlong Automobile, on January 19, Shenlong Automobile delivered 200 Dongfeng Peugeot 508L (Ctrip Car Rental) to Wanliang (Xiamen) Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., and on January 20, Shenlong Automobile delivered 800 Dongfeng Fukang ES500 to Chengdu Urban Investment Energy Group. As far as DPCA is concerned, if compared with 2019, the situation of DPCA is still very critical and the sales volume is still falling greatly, but compared with 2020, the situation of DPCA has indeed improved.

Looking back on the development process of Shenlong Automobile in the past few years, it can be described as "falling off the altar". It is understood that after the sales volume of DPCA reached the peak of 704,800 vehicles in 2015, the sales volume continued to decline. From 2016 to 2020, the sales volume decreased by 15.2%, 36.85%, 32.89%, 55.17% and 55.74% respectively, and the sales volume decreased for two consecutive years.

Of course, as a special year in 2020, although the sales volume of Shenlong Automobile is cut, it is also due to the impact of epidemic situation. Under this background, the sales volume in 2021 will rise sharply, and the reference value will not be so important.

In order to strengthen the confidence of brand development, Shenlong Automobile also announced brand renewal in February this year. On February 25, Peugeot released a brand-new brand logo in France. The newly launched LOGO will implant a lion with only head details into a shield. The lion shape is also more imposing than the previous version. Looking back at the history of Peugeot brand development, it is not difficult to find that Peugeot's brand-new brand logo was actually launched as early as 1960, but only adjusted for this version to make it more simple and atmospheric to meet the needs of digital development.

It is understood that the brand-new generation Peugeot 308 will take the lead in carrying brand-new brand logo. The new car has been officially released in March. It is built based on EMP2 modular platform. It is expected to be officially launched in the second half of 2021 and is expected to be introduced into domestic production. However, it is unclear which Dongfeng Peugeot model will be the first to carry the brand-new logo. DPCA said that Dongfeng Peugeot's brand-new 4008 and 5008 models will be officially launched, and Dongfeng Citroen's global strategic model E43 will also debut in the world, which will expand the sales volume of DPCA. Predictably, sales growth in 2021 may be a certainty against the backdrop of brand-new models and a gradual return to normal. However, DPCA should also admit that the current severe market situation, compared with hundreds of thousands of vehicles a few years ago, there is a huge gap, still need to face up to their own situation, find the real problem, as to whether to return to the peak of the market, the market has its own answer.
