The first production line of NIO ET7, the first flagship electric car, has been launched at the Hefei manufacturing base, officials said today, meaning that the ET7 welding line will soon be put into use and begin mass production.

In fact, the car plan was announced as early as 2019, when competitors such as Tesla and Xiaopeng Motor had launched or released their first sedan, and they also hoped to quickly launch the first car model to compete with their competitors, but due to various reasons, the new car plan was postponed, and EC6 finally replaced its first car "NIO DAY" in 2019. Some, including Qin Lihong, co-founder and president of NIO, previously revealed that they were constrained by funds, and NIO postponed the car project.

Today, the car has been unveiled at the 2020 NIO Day on January 9, 2021. It is worth noting that the ET7 standard models brought by the company will be BBA's flagship cars, such as the BMW 7-Series. In addition, it is also reported that the new car may be unveiled again at the Shanghai Auto Show in April this year.

In terms of appearance, the ET7 adopts the family design style, which extends from the ET Preview concept car, and the whole vehicle adopts the minimalist style. At the same time, China Grid uses a closed design language, which is in line with the positioning of its electric vehicle, and there are narrow and long LED light belts on both sides of the front.

From the side, the new car uses a slip-back styling design, showing a smooth design style, while also equipped with five wheels and hidden door handles, dynamic styling can be improved. On the rear side, the through taillights of the new car look very technological. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the ET7 is 5098/1987/1505mm and the wheelbase 3060mm.

It is worth mentioning that the addition of lidar and cameras on the "head" of the ET7 can provide drivers with a wider field of vision. In addition to the lidar, the new car has as many as 33 sensors to help the vehicle achieve a higher level of auxiliary driving ability. It is reported that the new car may have level 4 self-driving technology.

In terms of interior decoration, the new car still uses a simple design language, and provides a full liquid crystal instrument, a large-size central control screen and a multi-functional steering wheel. In addition, the ET7 is equipped with renewable materials, and the wood panels have unique patterns.

In terms of power, eT7 adopts the second generation high efficiency electric drive platform, which is equipped with the combination of front permanent magnet and rear induction motor, the acceleration time of 100 kilometers is within 4S, and the battery pack of 150kWh is provided. the mileage of NEDC will exceed that of 1000km.

Qin Lihong, co-founder and president of Lai Automobile, has said that the car project was postponed because it hoped that the first car would have considerable impact and was expected to be launched from 2022 to 2023. Our first generation of products are mainly SUV, the cost is high, if we want to solve the problem in the second generation production, the investment is too large. At present, it is clear that NIO is not as difficult as it was in 2019. According to the latest financial report, the total revenue of NIO in the fourth quarter of 2020 was 6.641 billion yuan (US $1.018 billion), up 133.2% from the same period last year and 46.7% from the previous year, but it was still in a state of loss, with a net loss of 1.389 billion yuan (US $213 million). Down 52.8% from a year earlier, up 32.6% from a month earlier. The total income of NIO in 2020 is 16.26 billion yuan. Gross margin in the vehicle business rose to 17.2% in the fourth quarter, up from 14.5% in the third quarter. This is mainly due to higher sales of ES8 and EC6, which have higher gross margins.

As for the sales performance is also significantly better than other new forces, according to the latest release of March and first quarter 2021 delivery results. Lailai delivered 7257 units in March, a record high, up 373.4 percent from the same period last year and 30.1 percent from the previous month. NIO delivered a total of 20060 units in the first quarter, reaching delivery of more than 20,000 units in a single quarter for the first time, an increase of 422.7% over the same period last year and 15.6% month-on-month growth. The gap between ideal and Xiaopeng car sales is gradually widening.
