Compared with Volkswagen's many model complaints mainly focused on the causes of abnormal gearbox noise or sudden setbacks, Volkswagen's Tanyue model was frequently on the list of complaints due to another problem with its engine, and topped the list with absolute complaints in March this year, which is a far cry from other models.

From the main problems on the complaint list, there are as many as 100 problems related to engine exhaust failure and engine fuel consumption, with 145 and 128 respectively.

Judging from the problems complained by many car owners, these two problems are related, mainly due to the blockage of the particle trap in the engine, which leads to double fuel consumption. Many car owners have an average fuel consumption of 20, and some even have an average fuel consumption of 30. It is most obvious during the traffic jam, but there is no problem with the highway. At the same time, for this reason, many car owners said that the vehicle will also be unable to accelerate, shift frustration, start and stop function failure and so on.

Some car owners said that mainly because this engine failed to meet the national 6B emission standards, manufacturers installed particle traps in order to meet the emission standards, but the particle traps will be blocked every 3000 kilometers or so.

It is learned from many car owners that when many vehicles drive less than 10,000 kilometers, the vehicles are clogged with particle traps, and a number of car owners report that they have cleaned up many times.

Seeking manufacturers can not give a fundamental solution to the problem, only to tell that there are two solutions, one solution is to let the vehicle run at a certain high speed for dozens of minutes, that is, to run at a high speed for more than 80% for a period of time to eliminate the blockage, using high temperature to burn clogged particles.

Another option is to forcibly implement the particle trap regeneration operation in the 4S store, that is, the vehicle starts the fire in place, step on the throttle to keep the vehicle at 3000 revolutions for about 30 minutes, and let the exhaust temperature exceed 800C to burn some of the particles.

In this regard, many car owners think that this scheme is unreasonable. Does it mean that every time this happens, more than 100 pieces of oil have to be wasted with high fuel consumption to solve this problem? Are you going to run the highway in the next three or two days? And in another way, it hurts the car even more. Therefore, it is considered that this is a vehicle defect, and it is hoped that the manufacturer should give a reasonable solution, not through an immature scheme to let users pay the bill.

It is worth mentioning that there are many complaints about headlights, but there have been many problems with this problem since last year, especially for 2019 models, with as many as 1268 complaints about headlights. and FAW-Volkswagen officials have been slow to give users a satisfactory solution to the problem.

Although the 2020 model Tanyue has improved on the problem of headlights, new problems follow, this time mainly reflected in the engine. So far, there are only 47 complaints about engine problems in 2019 models, while there are as many as 2020 complaints in 2020 models.

Since FAW-Volkswagen launched the Tanyue model in October 2018, with certain product strength, it also achieved good sales results in 2019, entering the top 10 of the domestic SUV market and ranking fourth in the joint venture SUV, with a cumulative sales of 179400 vehicles. But by 2020, there was a significant decline in sales of Tanyue, about 168500 vehicles, ranking 10th in domestic SUV. It can be seen that complaints about quality problems have a certain impact on Tanyue.

If it is only because of the fuel consumption problem, it may make consumption unacceptable, but if the vehicle with the engine problem is dangerous to the safety of consumers, we should also hope that the manufacturers will pay attention to it to avoid affecting the brand reputation.
