It is worth mentioning that the China Insurance Automobile Safety Index regulations (version 2020) was officially listed on March 31st. The latest version 2020 adds a number of testing items, including bumper frontal collision, bumper rear-end collision, automatic emergency braking-car to pedestrians and cyclists, lane deviation assistance, and so on.

One of the biggest highlights is the addition of 25% offset collision on the front side of the occupant side, juxtaposed as an option. The small offset collision on the right side of C-IASI is formed on the basis of the 25% offset collision test on the front side of IIHS, combined with the characteristics of the equivalent probability of accidents on the left / right side of frontal offset collision in China.

In addition, in the vehicle auxiliary safety index, taking into account such factors as frequent domestic pedestrian and cyclist accidents, high property losses, lane deviation, night visibility and the importance of headlights to vehicle safety, AEB automatic emergency braking (VRU vulnerable groups), LSS lane assistance and vehicle headlight testing are added to the 2020 edition.

2020 the implementation of the new regulations means that the testing standards are more stringent and standardized, and the above five models will become the first test models of the new regulations, which may face greater "reputation challenges" for car companies.

From the perspective of the models tested, there are not only freshmen who have just launched, such as Tank 300, Mazda CX-30 and Ford Ruiji, but also models that have been on the market for a long time but sell more generally, such as Toyota C-HR and Citroen Tianya C5AIRCROSS.

According to the data, the cumulative sales of tanks from January to February in 2021 was 9318. Tank 300, as a cross-country model under the Great Wall WEY brand, has attracted wide attention because of its shape and configuration since its debut. As a cross-country SUV, the Tank 300 is currently performing better than expected, and it remains to be seen whether it can withstand the new test procedures.

CX-30 is the latest small SUV launched by Changan Mazda, but the current performance of CX-30 in the market is not good, with cumulative sales of 18120 vehicles in 2020 and monthly sales of about 3000 vehicles, which is a big gap compared with colorful Intelligence / XR-V, Tanguo and other models. From this point of view, if the CX-30 has an accident in the PICC research test, it may lead to the deterioration of its sales.

Ruiji is a compact SUV of Changan Ford, which is currently a best-selling model under Changan Ford. It is equipped with a 2.0T four-cylinder engine and provides two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive for consumers to choose from. In terms of powertrain, Ford Ruiji is very sincere, but compared with CR-V, Haoying and RAV4 models, Ford Ruiji's performance is lukewarm.

The C-HR is the first small SUV under GAC Toyota, and sales of the model are also relatively mediocre in the market, with cumulative sales of 54184 vehicles in 2020 and monthly sales of about 4500 vehicles. It is worth mentioning that China Insurance Research C-IASI has conducted a collision test on FAW Toyota Yize, crashworthiness and maintenance economy is A, occupant safety, pedestrian safety and vehicle auxiliary safety are all G. Among them, in the front 25% offset collision, although the front wheel is seriously deformed and invaded the cockpit, the protection of the occupants in the car is still excellent due to the protection of the airbag. Side collisions also continued to get excellent results due to the protection of side airbags and air curtains. As a sister model, the C-HR may be able to achieve good results, but in the face of the new regulations, there are still a lot of unknown.

The last model is the Citroen Tianyi C5 AIRCROSS, which has little presence in the market, with cumulative sales of 9528 vehicles in 2020 and monthly sales of less than 1000. This is the first time that Citroen has participated in the test of China Insurance Research C-IASI, and if the test results are not satisfactory, it may affect its final market performance.

C-IASI is one of the third-party vehicle evaluation institutions in China, but due to many disputes in the evaluation results of Haoying models, its rigor has been questioned. However, with the implementation of the new procedures, perhaps its reputation will also be repaired to some extent. As for the performance of the above five models, we will wait and see!
