AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/09 Report--

Tesla once again raised the prices of a number of models. The prices of Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y both went up, according to Tesla's US website on April 9. Among them, Tesla Model 3 standard continued version and long-lasting version both increased by $500 to $38490 (about 252200 yuan) and $47490 (about 311200 yuan) respectively. The high-performance version of the Model 3 Performance has been raised by $1000 to start at $56990 (about 373400 yuan). The long-range version of Model Y has been raised by $500 and is currently priced at $50490 (330800 yuan).

Tesla official did not give an explanation for the price adjustment. It is worth mentioning that this is Tesla's third price adjustment. The price of Tesla's standard Model 3 battery life version rose by $500 twice on March 11 and March 24. With this increase, the price of Model 3 has risen by $1500, or about 9826 yuan.

However, some industry insiders said that the increase in product prices may be affected by the shortage of chips and the rising price of battery raw materials. After entering 2021, the problem of core shortage in the global automobile industry is becoming more and more serious, including Ford, GM, Honda, Toyota and other car companies have announced to reduce or stop production, Tesla, as one of the American car companies is no exception. In terms of power batteries, the prices of lithium, nickel and cobalt, the main raw materials of batteries, have continued to soar since the end of last year, increasing battery manufacturing costs and affecting the profits of car companies.

Due to the acceleration of localization, Tesla reduced the price only once in China. On March 24th, the price of domestic Model Y model was raised by 8000 yuan, of which the long-lasting version rose from 339900 yuan to 347900 yuan, and the high-performance version rose from 369900 yuan to 377900 yuan. After Model Y announced the price increase, Tesla sales staff once said that it is expected that the price of domestic Tesla Model 3 will also be raised in the future. But up to now, there is still no news of price adjustment for domestic Model 3. This time Tesla announced a price increase in the United States. Whether the domestic market will rise synchronously or not still needs to wait for further news.

Although Tesla raised the prices of a number of models in several markets in the first quarter of this year, it does not seem to affect sales. According to previously released data, Tesla delivered 185000 vehicles worldwide in the first quarter of 2021, of which 182780 were delivered from Model 3/Model Y to Model Y and 2020 from Model S and Model X. Tesla said Model Y was warmly welcomed in China and was rapidly increasing production to achieve full capacity production.

As for why the price rise of Model Y does not affect sales volume, Tesla sales said earlier that after the release of Model Y price increase information, many potential customers worried that Model 3 and Model Y prices would rise in the later stage, but stimulated wait-and-see customers to speed up their bookings.
