AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/13 Report--
Luxury brand sales in March 2021 were 51% higher than in March 2019, according to the Federation of passengers, which means that even without taking into account the impact of the 2020 epidemic, the luxury market grew by more than half in March this year. Although China is the world's largest car market, the performance is surprising.
According to the statistical standards of the Federation of passengers, the guiding price of 300000 yuan is a watershed for luxury cars, and car brands with a price of more than 300000 yuan can be regarded as luxury car brands.
The Federation released a ranking of luxury model sales in March, with more than 10,000 luxury models sold that month, a year-on-year surge, with three first-tier luxury brands of Mercedes-Benz and BMW Audi accounting for the majority of sales.
In the luxury car market, BMW 5-Series sold as much as 16062 vehicles in March, ranking first in the luxury car market. Audi A4L and Audi A6L ranked second and third respectively, with sales of 15068 and 14961 respectively. These two models offer large terminal discounts in the market. The former has a terminal discount of 50,000 to 60,000 yuan in the market. The latter has a greater discount range, which is one of the main reasons for the two models to maintain market competitiveness.
The next two models are from the Mercedes-Benz brand, and there is little difference between Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Mercedes-Benz E-Class sales, at 13983 and 13785 respectively. In March this year, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class cancelled the 1.5T engine and replaced the entire 2.0T engine. Although consumers at this price do not attach much importance to power output, 2.0T is certainly higher than 1.5T and more in line with Mercedes-Benz E-Class positioning. The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class was released in February. In addition to updating the appearance and interior, the new car also offers two power systems, 1.5T+48V and 2.0T+48V, the first generation of Mercedes-Benz models with a new powertrain electrified. It is understood that the new car will be officially unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show and will be available this year.
The last three models are all from second-tier luxury brands, including 3627 Volvo S90, 2869 Red Flag H9 and 1921 Cadillac CT6. Volvo S90 and Cadillac CT6 are both models with big discounts in the market, but consumers can buy first-line luxury models in the price range of 30-500000 yuan, so that even if these models have big discounts in the end market, but the sales performance is still mediocre. As for the Red Flag H9, as an independent brand high-end model, monthly sales are basically maintained at the level of about 3000 vehicles, the price in the end market is relatively strong, but also in line with the normal standards of second-tier luxury cars.
There are more than 10,000 models in the luxury SUV market, including Audi Q5L, Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 and Model Y. Among them, Audi Q5L sold 15270 vehicles, ranking first in this market segment, and Audi Q5L also ranked first with 43352 vehicles in the previous three months. It is understood that the new Q5L will be released at the Shanghai Auto Show. In addition to some adjustments in appearance, the price is also expected to increase.
Sales of the Mercedes-Benz GLC and the BMW X3 are stable, with the former at 14240 and the latter at 13491. In addition, the Model Y sold 10151 vehicles in March, selling more than 10,000 for the first time, making it the only new energy model with more than 10,000 sales.
Mercedes-Benz GLB, Volvo XC60 and Tu'eng all sold more than 5000 vehicles, 5647, 5383 and 5150 respectively. Among other models, the ideal ONE sold 4900 vehicles, making it the second new energy model on the list, with Cadillac XT5 and Cadillac XT6 selling 4705 and 3244 respectively.
On the whole, luxury car brands continued the market performance in 2020, with BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi as the main first-tier luxury brands to stabilize the market, with fierce competition with Red Flag, Volvo, Cadillac, Lexus and so on. Start to cut into the luxury camp with Tesla, NIO and ideal. However, as domestic independent brands continue to hit the high end, there will be more luxury brands in the future, and this market will become more intense in 2021.
