The new model has caused heated discussion because it looks like the Volkswagen Beetle. Recently, according to foreign media reports, Volkswagen is interested in suing the Great Wall because the Euler punk cat copied the original Volkswagen Beetle.

Foreign media reported that although the Volkswagen Beetle officially stopped production in 2019, the design copyright of the Volkswagen Beetle still belongs to Volkswagen Group, and we are currently discussing whether the Great Wall European punk cat infringes on the design patent of Volkswagen. And will reserve the right to take any necessary legal steps.

At the Shanghai International Auto Show, Euler unveiled a brand new model called punk Cat. Judging from the appearance of the exhibition car, the design of the punk cat is different from the current models on sale, and is very similar to the Volkswagen Beetle, including round headlights, bonnet, chrome front bumper and so on. The overall shape of the new car is very round, the headlight group uses an oval shape, double-row door design and two-color body, the front and rear wing plate is wide out of the body, forming a wide body effect. At the rear of the body, the two silver strips extending to the rear of the car are very eye-catching, and the rear headlamp group also uses an oval shape, which makes the whole vehicle design very "old-fashioned".

The interior of the punk cat also uses a "retro" design technique, such as the air outlet, the central control knob, the three-frame steering wheel, the window control area and even the throttle pedal, etc., and the full liquid crystal dashboard adopts the prototype design. the central control screen uses a suspended design, coupled with red and green color matching appears very retro. At present, the powertrain of this model is still unknown, so we can only wait for a follow-up report.

It is a pity that the Beetle, a classic car, was forced to stop production in 2019, but the emergence of the Euler punk cat also made up for this deficiency. As an electric car brand that focuses on female consumers, punk cat should be able to become a best-selling model if it can be successfully launched.

It is worth mentioning that although the Beetle has ceased production, Volkswagen intends to "revive" it by electrification. At the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019, Volkswagen showed a pure electric version of the Beetle, using the e-up electric drive system to become a new e-Beetle, and registered the e-Beetle trademark in 2020. As we all know, Euler is also an electric car brand, so punk cat will be controversial if it goes public, and Great Wall Motor may face legal action.
