AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/25 Report--
The Shanghai International Auto Show is nearing its end, but Tesla's roof rights are still brewing. On the evening of April 24, CCTV host Bai Yansong commented in Newsweek that at first the female owner stepped on only Tesla, but after a few days of fermentation, she stepped on not only Tesla brand, but more likely stepped on a pain point in the development of smart cars.
Bai Yansong put forward five questions in the program: How should the accident identification of intelligent cars be reliable? How can third-party testing agencies reassure people? In whose hands should the relevant data be placed? Is it private? How can we protect and defend our rights? Bai Yansong said that the female car owner stepped on the roof of the car because of illegal detention for five days, has paid a considerable price. Then, if we just watch the excitement, only entangled in the solution of this matter, and can not progress from the system, whether consumers or smart car industry, even our entire consumption environment will pay a greater price.
Let's review this incident: On February 21, Ms. Zhang accompanied her family to go out to play. When her father drove Model 3 to the village section of the south section of National Highway 341, the vehicle suddenly lost control and stopped after hitting the roadside concrete guardrail after two cars. Because the rear airbag did not pop up, Ms. Zhang's parents were injured to varying degrees.
Ms. Zhang's family said that she stepped on the brakes at that time, but it didn't work at all. Later, Ms. Zhang negotiated with Tesla to withdraw the car, and after being rejected, she drove the vehicle to Tesla Experience Center for rights protection on March 9. Ms. Zhang sat on the roof of the car, and the white cloth on the car body wrote "Tesla brake failure, causing serious accidents". At the same time, the owner also held a speaker to play "Tesla Model 3 brake failure during the Spring Festival, causing traffic accidents, a family of four nearly died" recording.
On April 19, Ms. Zhang, who continued to defend her rights but could not be resolved, finally chose to go to the Shanghai Auto Show to discuss her views. According to Ms. Zhang's husband,"Considering that Tao Lin may participate in the auto show, my wife wants to take this opportunity to reflect the situation with Tao Lin. At first, she did not think about doing excessive behavior, but only wanted a statement." After the wife arrived at the scene, she may have been recognized by the staff as filming, and then the security personnel pulled her and tried to evict her." Mr. Li said,"The security personnel blocked the shooting with umbrellas, causing his wife to be angered and reluctantly boarded the roof."
After the incident, Tesla's vice president of external affairs said in an interview with the media that "the recent negatives are all her contributions" and "we have no way to compromise, which is a necessary process for the development of a new product."
Tao Lin's remarks pushed Tesla's rights protection incident to a climax, including Xinhua Agency, CCTV News, People's Daily, Municipal Supervision Bureau, Political and Law Commission, China Consumers Association and other media departments have named Tesla. Subsequently, Tesla posted several posts on Weibo in response to the progress of rights protection incidents and provided corresponding driving data to consumers.
The data showed that the last time the brakes were applied, the speed was 118.5km/h. Before the collision, the vehicle speed was reduced to 48.5km/h. In addition, 30 minutes before the accident occurred, the braking record exceeded 40 times, and the vehicle exceeded 100km/h several times and stopped many times. This data is completely different from Ms. Zhang's statement, Ms. Zhang said the actual speed is 60-70km/h.
In Newsweek, which aired last night, Mr. Li admitted that it was excessive behavior for auto show rights protection. It was heard that Tesla vice president would go to Shanghai auto show before Ms. Zhang left for Shanghai, but the final "roof" behavior really shouldn't be, some confused.
In response to the incident process, Mr. Zhang (Ms. Zhang's father) described that he stepped on the brakes twice at the time of the incident, and the car did not slow down or recover kinetic energy when braking for the first time; and felt that the brakes were very hard when stepping on the second time, and there was no reaction at all. And in the first 100 meters or so before the collision, the brakes have no reaction, and finally after a continuous collision of many cars hit the concrete guardrail to stop.
Mr. Zhang denied speeding, which was about 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. CCTV asked whether it was because he was unfamiliar with Tesla's intelligent operation that he couldn't brake, Mr. Zhang said he got his driver's license in 1986 and had been driving all his life. He couldn't even brake. Mr. Li said that the incident time was 6 p.m., when it was rush hour, there were so many vehicles that there was no condition to drive to 118 kilometers per hour. After the incident, he repeatedly went to the road section to do experiments, did 20 or 30 times down to the maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour. But at 100 kilometers an hour, it feels dangerous.
After the accident, the owner and Tesla have been unable to reach an agreement on third-party identification. Mr. Li said that we agree with the third-party appraisal agency for appraisal, but do not recognize the third-party appraisal agency designated by Tesla. We hope to find a national authoritative inspection agency for vehicle appraisal.
Zhang Xiang, an expert in the new energy and intelligent network automobile industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that the testing standards and specifications for smart cars with autonomous driving function have not yet been issued, so it is not easy to do third-party identification for this accident. In addition, Tesla currently provides the names of testing agencies are very vague, and there is no specific unit. At present, third-party organizations do not have the ability to detect the responsibility of intelligent car traffic accidents. In the absence of standards and regulations and Detection Tools, they cannot do so.
It is understood that Ms. Zhang ended her detention on the 5th this morning and has been released. According to Mr. Li's previous article, they will return to Zhengzhou to collect relevant data after the expiration of detention on the 25th. Family members of car owners said they would continue to defend Tesla in the future.
