Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. and Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration to recall some imported and domestic models, according to the documents.

Question 1:

Due to the production deviation of parts suppliers, the air conditioning condensing pipes of some vehicles within the scope of this recall may be blocked. The condensate that causes the air conditioner may enter the driver and passenger seat as well as the central passageway, corroding and / or short-circuiting electrical components installed in the area. This can lead to different consequences: the SRS control unit may fail, the vehicle may not start, the engine limping home mode may be activated while driving, and other functions (such as fuel pumps, automatic / manual emergency calls) may also be affected, resulting in safety concerns.

Due to the above defects, Mercedes-Benz announced that it will recall a total of 168 imported Class An and B vehicles produced between August 26, 2019 and September 27, 2019. Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will check the air conditioning condensate drain pipes for vehicles within the recall area free of charge by authorized dealers, and replace the air conditioning shell with qualified condensate pipes if the water pipes are found to be clogged, in order to eliminate safety risks.

Emergency measures: users should avoid using air conditioners before vehicle recall and maintenance.

Question 2:

Due to the deviation of the supplier's production equipment, the size of the hole used for fixing the bearing on the universal joint of the steering shaft of some vehicles within the scope of this recall is too large, resulting in a gap between the bearing and the hole wall, which will increase after the vehicle has been used for a long time, resulting in abnormal steering noise or inaccurate steering. If you ignore the above anomalies for a long time and continue to use the vehicle, the bearing may be separated from the universal joint, affecting the steering function of the vehicle, increasing the risk of collision, and there are hidden dangers.

Due to the above defects, Mercedes-Benz will recall a total of 4898 imported A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA vehicles produced during the period from November 30, 2016 to February 24, 2017. Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will check the production information of the steering shaft for vehicles within the recall and replace the steering shaft free of charge if it is within the affected area to eliminate safety risks.

Emergency measures: users should drive carefully before vehicle recall and repair. if you find that the vehicle steering is abnormal (click) or steering inaccurately, you should contact the authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to deal with it.

Question 3:

Due to the supplier's production deviation, the bonding between the glass panel of the sliding skylight and the skylight frame may not meet the specifications. In this case, the performance of the bonding may gradually weaken over time, unable to ensure the specific durability requirements of the bonding, resulting in skylight panels may be separated from the vehicle, there are safety risks that increase the risk of accidents or injury to other road users.

Due to the above defects, Mercedes-Benz will immediately expand the recall of some imported and domestic C-Class, CLK, CLS and E-Class vehicles produced from December 12, 2005 to September 14, 2006, a total of 390 vehicles. Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd., Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will check the production date of the skylight and the adhesion of the skylight glass panel for the affected vehicles through the Mercedes-Benz authorized service center, if the adhesive force does not meet the requirements, replace the sliding skylight to eliminate safety risks.

Question 4:

Due to the supplier's production deviation, the fixing bolts of the rear central handrail may be broken, and there may be sound or loosening at the handrail joint. If the vehicle collides, the handrail may be loosened and there is a hidden danger of safety.

Because of the above defects, Mercedes-Benz will recall a total of 1047 domestic long-wheelbase E-Class cars produced between September 25, 2020 and October 10, 2020 from June 18. Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will authorize dealers to replace the bolts on the rear handrails of the affected vehicles and, if necessary, inspect and replace the handrails to eliminate safety risks.

In recent years, Mercedes-Benz has frequent quality problems in the Chinese market. In 2019 alone, Mercedes-Benz launched a total of 24 recalls, the number of recalls as high as 1.4582 million vehicles, equivalent to twice the cumulative sales of Mercedes-Benz in 2019. Mercedes-Benz also announced 21 recalls in 2020, the most of all brands.
