According to previous reports, in April 2020, Changchun Municipal Government, FAW of China and Silco of the United States signed a letter of intent for the Red Flag S-Series project. China's FAW and the United States will set up a joint venture with Silke to jointly build the first Red Flag sports car model. In February this year, relevant enterprises and governments of China, the United States and Italy signed an investment agreement, announcing the joint launch of the Red Flag S-Series sports car, and the Red Flag S-Series project will be launched in China and Italy one after another.

It is understood that the red flag S-series project will invest 10 billion yuan to build red flag S series sports cars and brands. Red flag S series sports cars will include models such as Red Flag S9 and Red Flag S5, among which Red Flag S9 will be jointly designed by China's FAW China-Europe R & D team. and put into production at the same time in Changchun, Jilin, China and Amelia-Romagne, Italy. With the continuous launch of the follow-up products of Red Flag S-series sports cars, R & D and production will be carried out in China and Italy in an all-round way.

Red Flag S9 will be the first supercar of the Red Flag brand. The Red Flag S9 concept car was unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show and then displayed at the 2020 Beijing Motor Show, and this year's Shanghai Auto Show Red Flag S9 production version was officially unveiled. Compared with the concept version, the mass production version still retains a more sci-fi design style, and the red silk decorative strip in the middle of the front cabin cover continues the style of Red Flag three-dimensional LOGO. In the rear, in addition to the giant rear spoiler, you can also see the design of the central vertical bar echoing the red flag stripe LOGO at the front of the car, as well as the exaggerated shape of the taillight group.
