The reason for the recall is that liquid leakage may occur in the active fixed brackets of the engine and gearbox within the recall scope, which may cause corrosion of the engine control module (PCM) connector pins, resulting in the vehicle unable to start, unable to flameout, charging system failure, air conditioning failure, engine warning lights on, etc., in extreme cases, it may cause the vehicle to idle or turn off the engine while driving, which may cause safety risks.

In view of the above defects, Ford Motor (China) Co., Ltd. will entrust Lincoln authorized dealers to inspect engines, gearbox active brackets and bracket plugs for leakage or corrosion for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge. If bracket leakage or bracket plug corrosion is found, replace engine and gearbox fixed bracket, and replace or repair engine wire harness and PCM; as appropriate, such as bracket and bracket plug are not leaked or corroded, will seal engine and gearbox active fixed bracket plug and wire harness, eliminate the possibility of liquid entering PCM, and re-correct PCM to eliminate safety risks.

Lincoln Continent was first born in 1939, which is regarded as a model with a long history. Due to sluggish sales, Lincoln mainland was forced to stop production in 2002 until it returned in 2016.
