In terms of sales, the Audi brand sold 462828 vehicles in the first quarter, up 31 per cent from the first quarter of 2020, which was affected by the epidemic. Audi said it achieved significant growth in sales of Q-series and high-end models in the first quarter.

From a regional point of view, the Chinese market is the largest market for the Audi brand. Audi's cumulative sales in China reached 207386 in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 83.0 per cent over the same period last year, accounting for 45 per cent of the total global sales. Audi A6L, the highest-selling Audi brand in the first quarter, rose 59.0 per cent year-on-year to 46245 vehicles, according to FIFA data. This was followed by the Audi A4L, which rose 77.4 per cent year-on-year to 43636. In third place was Audi Q5L, with cumulative sales up 99.1 per cent year-on-year to 43352 vehicles.

It is understood that this year is also the product year of Audi brand. In the Chinese market, FAW-Volkswagen Audi has launched new Audi A3L, domestic Audi e-tron and other models, the medium-term modified Audi Q5L will be launched in May, and the medium-term modified Audi Q2L will be available this year. In addition, the Audi A7L, the first product of SAIC Audi, has made its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show and will begin pre-sale in the fourth quarter of this year at the earliest and officially go on sale in the first quarter of next year.

In addition to the Chinese market, Audi has seen growth in Mexico, Brazil and the United States, with the highest growth in the United States, with sales of 54840 vehicles, second only to the Chinese market.

The performance of other markets is relatively mediocre, mainly because of the impact of the epidemic. Audi sold 155325 vehicles in Europe in the first quarter, compared with 165389 in the same period last year, down from last year's sales level. Among them, Germany is Audi's largest single market in Europe, with sales falling 24.5 per cent to 47523 vehicles compared with the same period last year. Although Audi achieved double-digit growth in France and Italy, the growth rate was far from offset by the decline in the German market, resulting in a 6.1 per cent decline in the European market.

At present, in addition to the impact of the epidemic, the shortage of semiconductors also affects Audi's final sales. However, due to hot sales in the Chinese market, Audi expects sales and revenue for the whole of this year to be much higher than last year's levels, operating sales margins of between 7 per cent and 9 per cent, and net cash flow is expected to be 3.5 billion-4.5 billion euros.
