According to foreign media reports, at the request of US regulators, Ford Motor Company launched a recall of Ford Explorer models in the North American market, involving 661000 vehicles.

It is understood that the overseas recall of Ford explorers for 2016-2019 models, a total of 661000. Judging from the replacement year of the explorers, the models recalled this time are mainly those of the previous generation of explorers.

The reason for the recall is that the fixed screws on the roof luggage rack cover of the vehicle within the recall scope may be loose, resulting in the luggage rack cover falling off during the driving of the vehicle, resulting in safety risks. In addition, the relevant departments in the United States asked Ford to recall the relevant vehicles in April, but it was rejected by Ford on the grounds of "low probability of loose parts and low quality".

In response to the above defects, Ford will replace the luggage rack fixing screws and the damaged luggage rack cover for the 2016-2019 explorer models through dealers.

Domestic explorers officially launched in April 2020, the new car positioning medium and large SUV, all equipped with 2.3T engine and 10-speed automatic transmission, the price range is 30.98-399800 yuan. At present, the explorer is the highest positioning model in Changan Ford's domestic products, and it is also an important step to achieve sales recovery and improve brand image, mainly competing with Volkswagen Tuen, Buick Anke Banner, Toyota Hanlanda and other models.

In terms of monthly sales, the sales of domestic explorers remained at more than 3000, with a cumulative sales of 23678 in 2020 and 7424 in the first quarter of this year, second only to Ruijie.

It is worth mentioning that before the launch of domestic models, Ford explorers were introduced to the Chinese market as imported cars, so the same problem may have occurred in the previous generation of models that have already been sold. However, as of press time, we have not yet received the relevant recall information issued by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and we will continue to pay attention to this.

According to the latest figures released by Changan Automobile on May 8, Changan Automobile sold 202280 vehicles in April, up 26.78 per cent from a year earlier. Judging from the sales structure of Changan Automobile, Changan Ford's sales have declined seriously. In April, Changan Ford sold only 15363 vehicles, down 24.93% from the same period last year.
