On May 12th, Toyota released the joint financial statements of Toyota Group for fiscal year 2020 (April 2020 to March 2021) and the joint financial forecast for fiscal year 2021 (April 2021 to March 2022). According to the financial report, Toyota Group's sales in fiscal 2020 were 27.2145 trillion yen (1.6084 trillion yuan), down 8.9 percent from a year earlier, and operating profit was 2.1977 trillion yen (129.9 billion yuan), down 8.4 percent from a year earlier. Net profit was 2.25 trillion yen (134.9 billion yuan), up 10.3 percent from the same period last year.

In terms of regions, revenue in Japan was 14.95 trillion yen, down 9.1% from a year earlier; revenue in North America was 9.49 trillion yen, down 10.8% from a year earlier; revenue in Europe was 3.13 trillion yen, down 6.6% from a year earlier; and revenue in Asia was 5.05 trillion yen, down 4.7% from a year earlier. Overall, Toyota's revenue has declined in many markets around the world.

Toyota sold 9.92 million vehicles worldwide in fiscal 2020, down 5.1 per cent from a year earlier, according to the financial report. Of this total, sales in China were 2 million, up 29.5 percent from the same period last year; 2.13 million in Japan, down 5.1 percent from the same period last year; and 2.31 million in North America, down 14.7 percent from the same period last year.

Judging from Toyota's sales structure, although sales in China are not as good as those in Japan, it is the only market that has achieved sales growth, with an increase of nearly 30%. It can be said that Toyota can achieve net profit growth, the Chinese market has made a great contribution.

It is understood that Toyota will launch a number of models in the Chinese market this year. As of today, Toyota has launched new Corolla / Leiling, Wellanda PHEV, Ling Shang and other models in China, followed by the fourth generation Hanlanda, the new A+ class Asian Lion, the new C-HR/ Yize, the Crown-Lu Fang and so on. It is understood that the fourth-generation Hanlanda will start pre-sale in June, the third-generation models will not stop production, new and old models will be sold in the same house, and sister model Crown-Lufang will also be listed at the same time. In addition, the brand new car, Asian Lion, will go on sale in June, while its sister model, Ling Shang, went on sale in April.

Data show that Guangzhou Auto Toyota sold 69000 vehicles in April, while FAW Toyota sold 65000 vehicles. From January to April, it was 277000 for Guangzhou Auto Toyota and 260000 for FAW Toyota.

Due to the impact of COVID-19 's epidemic in 2020, the sales of many car companies around the world have declined, and Toyota is no exception. However, compared with other car companies, Toyota's performance is relatively optimistic, although revenue has fallen, but net profit has increased, making it the world's highest-selling and profitable car company. Toyota expects revenue to rise about 10 per cent year-on-year to 30 trillion yen in fiscal 2022, net profit to rise 2.4 per cent to 2.3 trillion yen and full-year sales to rise about 6.4 per cent to 10.55 million vehicles.
