AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/25 Report--
Speaking of automotive safety certification bodies, Europe's E-NCAP (European Union New car Safety Evaluation Association) and the United States' IIHS (American Highway Safety Insurance Association) collision tests are more authoritative, while the domestic C-IASI (China Insurance Automobile Safety Index) is also recognized domestically, in addition to being closer to the fact, its collision test basically comes from the same IIHS, which can be said to be the Chinese version of "IIHS".
On May 25th, China Insurance Research C-IASI released a brief introduction to the 2020 version of the rules, explaining the new passenger side front 25% offset (also known as "right small offset") collision test and evaluation procedures. Officials said that the new passenger side front 25% offset collision will be listed as an option, while the new rear row female dummy monitoring, the passenger side front 25% offset collision will not be included in the overall evaluation of the occupants.
In terms of test procedures, the passenger side 25% offset collision speed: 64.4 ±1km/h speed to the vehicle frontal impact rigid barrier; overlap rate: 25 ±1% (co-driver side); test dummies: two Hybrid III 50% dummies (driver, co-driver); one Hybrid III 5% dummy (monitoring). In terms of evaluation procedures, the 25% offset collision evaluation of the passenger side is divided into three aspects: restraint system and dummy movement, dummy injury and vehicle structure to test and evaluate the occupant safety protection performance of the vehicle. The details are as follows:
It is understood that in PICC's previous collision tests, only 25% of the left side of the collision was offset, that is, the driver's side. Many car companies are already familiar with the test standards, so they will strengthen the front structure of the car body according to the side collision of the main driver, thus neglecting the safety of the co-driver.
Since IIHS joined the 25% small offset crash on the right and conducted surprise tests, almost all of the seven Japanese SUV models that received "excellent" ratings on the main driver side crashes have been downgraded, only Hyundai Tusheng has received excellent ratings, and the remaining five models have received three good and two passes, while Toyota RAV4 has received poor ratings.
I learned on the Internet that Baoyan C-IASI completed the first passenger side 25% offset collision test in China as early as mid-June 2019. The test model was the Chevrolet Malibu XL model, which performed a little badly in the crash. As an American model, the A-pillar was directly hit and bent. It can be said that with the implementation of the new regulations of the C-IASI 2020 edition of the China Insurance Research Institute, this kind of "examination-oriented" approach will not work in China.
It is understood that on April 8 this year, the China Insurance Research C-IASI released a list of the first test models in 2021, including one independent model and four joint venture models, namely the Great Wall Tank 300, Mazda CX-30, Ford Ruiji, Toyota C-HR, Citroen Tianyi C5 AIRCROSS five models.
It is worth mentioning that the China Insurance Automobile Safety Index regulations (version 2020) was officially listed on March 31st. A number of testing items have been added to the latest version 2020, in addition to the 25% offset collision on the passenger side mentioned above, including bumper frontal collision, bumper rear-end collision, automatic emergency braking-car to pedestrians and cyclists, lane deviation assistance, and so on.
C-IASI is one of the third-party vehicle evaluation institutions in China, but there has been a lot of controversy since the Haoying model, which has led to some doubts about its rigor. However, with the implementation of the new procedures, perhaps its reputation will also be repaired to some extent. As for the performance of the above five models, we will wait and see!
