Ling Shang, a new compact car owned by GAC Toyota, was officially launched on June 6, with a total of two models with a guided price range of 14.88-158800 yuan.

Ling Shang made his debut at the 2020 Guangzhou Auto Show. After more than half a year of warm-up, he is familiar with Ling Shang's basic information. As a new model to be launched by GAC Toyota this year, Ling Shang has adopted a new design in appearance, with a larger medium grid on the front face, a horizontal design on the interior, the design above the front and headlights basically consistent with Leiling, while moving the Toyota LOGO to the top of the hood. In terms of size, the new car is located as a compact sedan with a body length, width and height of 4695/1780/1435mm and a wheelbase of 2750mm, which is between Leiling and Camry.

Ling Shang's interior layout is also somewhat similar to that of Lei Ling. The new car retains some physical buttons, uses a combination of 12.3-inch full liquid crystal dashboard and 9-inch suspension central control screen, and uses electronic brakes and mechanical shift lever. In terms of power, Toyota Ling Shang will be equipped with a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine codenamed M20C, with a maximum power of 178hp and a peak torque of 210Nm, matched by a CVT gearbox.

GAC Toyota Ling Shang and FAW Toyota Asia Lion are sister models, both based on TNGA architecture. Prior to this, FAW Toyota Asian Lion was officially listed on April 10, with a market guidance price of 14.28-179800 yuan. From the price point of view, Camry guidance price is 17.98-234800 yuan, Lei Ling is 11.38-139800 yuan, Ling Shang is 14.88-158800 yuan, filling the gap between Camry and Lei Ling.

Guangzhou Auto Toyota Lingshang's main competitors are FAW-Volkswagen Suiteng and FAW Toyota Asian Lion. At present, the official guidance price of FAW-Volkswagen Suiteng is 12.99-192900 yuan. According to the data, Volkswagen sold 299800 vehicles in 2020 and 105600 from January to April. At present, the discount range of Suiteng in the market is basically about 30-50,000 yuan, which is relatively large, and it is also the main reason for its sales growth. As for FAW Toyota Asian Lion, as a sister model, due to the market guidance price is close, the future performance in the market is expected to be close.

With reference to Ling Shang's price, it is obvious that there is no big surprise. On the whole, Ling still has little room to improve in appearance, interior decoration, power and so on, more like an extended version of Leiling, but its price is higher than that of the top Leiling model, that is, the price for space, if there is enough budget, consumers can increase the price to buy a Camry with more space performance.

From this point of view, although Ling Shang is an A + class car, the price is between Lei Ling and Camry, but it is very embarrassing. Ling can not like Suiteng to use a larger terminal discount in exchange for the market, because once a larger market discount appears, it will conflict with Toyota brand positioning, and it will also squeeze into Leiling's market. In other words, Ling Shang may not have a larger discount in the market, which will also lead to a certain gap between Ling Shang and Suiteng.
