On June 7th, BYD released its latest figures, showing that car sales in May were 46295, up 45.49% from a year earlier. BYD's cumulative car sales from January to May were 195674, up 56.66% from a year earlier.

The performance of new energy vehicles is relatively strong. According to the data, BYD sold 32800 new energy vehicles in May 2021, an increase of 189.62 per cent over the same period last year, with a cumulative sales volume of 113213 vehicles from January to May, an increase of 143.41 per cent. As for fuel vehicles, sales of fuel vehicles in May were 13495, down 34.16% from a year earlier. The cumulative sales from January to May were 82461, up 5.19% from a year earlier.

The substantial increase in sales of BYD's new energy vehicles has a lot to do with BYD's latest DM-i technology. Data show that sales of DM models reached 12970 in May, exceeding 10,000 for the first time, of which DM-i is the main product of DM models. In January this year, BYD launched the self-developed "DM-i Super plug-in" system, while announcing the pre-sale of three models, including Qin PLUS DM-i, Song PLUS DM-i and Tang DM-i, which will be officially launched in March and April. From the feedback of the market, BYD is not short of orders. After the release of the DM-i super hybrid model, BYD car orders soared, resulting in a serious shortage of BYD DM-i. In this regard, BYD has a marketing strategy plan called "DMI Kunlun Strategy", which probably aims to give priority to ensuring the supply of cars in Chongqing, Tianjin, Hunan, Jiangsu, Guangxi and other provinces and cities when the production capacity of DMI models is insufficient.

In response to the online news, BYD issued a note saying: the online "regional campaign market" initiative is only a marketing attempt through some markets. At the same time, BYD said that in the next stage, it will further expand production capacity while ensuring quality, and simultaneously build an optimized customer order delivery query system to achieve real-time information tracking of the whole process from customer ordering to car pick-up. According to BYD's official Weibo account, there are still many motorists urging delivery in the comment area.

According to the plan, BYD aims to sell 400000 new energy vehicles in 2021, of which EV and DM hybrid account for half. Looking back at BYD's latest sales, the proportion of its fuel-fueled cars is declining, narrowing to 29.15% in may. In other words, BYD needs to sell 290000 new energy vehicles in the next seven months. According to the above plan, BYD will launch at least 5-6 new models in 2021.

In addition, BYD's high-end brands are also in full swing. Li Yunfei, general manager of BYD's public relations department, revealed in an interview with the media that BYD will launch a new high-end brand in the fourth quarter of this year. The car will be priced between 500000 yuan and 800000 yuan under a new BYD brand. Li Yunfei's evaluation of the car is: this car is enough for people to see at first glance, the eyes do not want to leave.
