According to several media reports, domestic Tesla Model Y will carry a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by Ningde Times, which is scheduled to be launched in July.

Model Y is Tesla's second domestic model in China, which was officially put on sale on January 1 this year, with a total of two models: long-lasting version and high-performance version, of which the long-lasting version of Model Y starts at 339900 yuan and the high-performance version of Performance starts at 369900 yuan. On March 24th, Tesla China announced that the price of the domestic Model Y model will be raised by 8000 yuan, including the long-lasting version from 339900 yuan to 347900 yuan, and the high-performance version from 369900 yuan to 377900 yuan.

It is understood that the current domestic Tesla Model Y carrying LG chemical ternary lithium battery, once the domestic Model Y uses Ningde era lithium iron phosphate battery, its price may be explored, mileage will also be improved, at a lower price to buy higher mileage products, for consumers is indeed a great benefit.

It is worth mentioning that after using lithium iron phosphate battery, there may not be a large price adjustment for Model Y or because of chip shortage. At present, the Model Y in the United States has launched three versions: the standard flight version, the long flight version and the high-performance version, while only the long-range version and the high-performance version are launched in China. It can be foreseen that the launch of the domestic Model Y standard version is only a matter of time. Tesla is bound to launch a lower-priced Model Y model, enjoying new energy subsidies while enhancing the competitive advantage of Model Y in the market, coupled with lithium iron phosphate batteries. Its price may be around 270000 yuan. However, in response to the above market rumors, Ningde Times and Tesla did not respond publicly, and the specific news is still based on official information.

Prior to this, domestic Tesla Model 3 also changed from ternary lithium battery to lithium iron phosphate battery. In October 2020, Tesla's domestic Model 3 standard life upgrade version and long range rear wheel drive version were undergoing battery replacement, and the prices of China-made Model 3 standard battery life upgrade version and long range rear wheel drive version were adjusted to 2499,000 yuan and 309900 yuan respectively.

Tesla officially said that the updated Model3 standard battery upgrade has been updated from the original ternary lithium battery to lithium iron phosphate battery, which has a higher mileage, making the comprehensive range of the Model3 standard battery upgrade up to 468km.

According to the Federation of passengers, Tesla's retail sales in China in May 2021 were 21936 vehicles, and the cumulative sales from January to May were 128588 vehicles. Specific to the model, the sales volume of domestic Model Y is 12728, with a cumulative delivery of 34557 from January to May, while the domestic delivery of domestic Model 3 is 9209 and 68330 from January to May. Judging from the monthly sales data, Tesla Model Y has gradually overtaken Model Y to become Tesla's best-selling model in China.

Before the release of the Model Y, Tesla CEO Elon Musk predicted that the Model Y would become Tesla's best-selling car, which is likely to outsell the Model S, Model 3 and Model X combined. Once Model Y is replaced with lithium iron phosphate battery, a lower price standard endurance version will be launched, which will have a great impact on the domestic new energy vehicle market.
