It is worth mentioning that in addition to Guangzhou Auto Toyota, FAW Toyota will also introduce this model and continue to deepen the two-car strategy.

According to the official release, SIENNA is named "Sena", in which "race" represents the meaning of surpassing and surpassing; "that" means a moment of happiness; and GAC Toyota chose to announce the domestic version of the model on Father's Day, which echoes the positioning of SIENNA's "nanny car".

As a Toyota global model, Sienna has come to China as a parallel import since the second generation. This announcement of the domestic Sienna, based on Toyota TNGA-K platform, has changed greatly compared with the old model, the shape of the headlamp of the new car is narrower and longer, and the introduction of chrome strip decoration further extends the visual effect of the headlamp, while the huge grille below is quite recognizable. The lines of the new Sienna are more complex and changeable, and the new car's Bhand C columns are all painted in black. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 5172/1993/1738mm and the wheelbase is 3060mm.

The interior of the new car is designed in the Toyota family style, with a 9-inch floating touch screen and a 7-inch driving computer display, and retains a large number of physical buttons in the car. In terms of power, the new domestic Senna hybrid version will be equipped with the same hybrid assembly as the new Hanlanda, consisting of 2.5L naturally aspirated engine + motor, the comprehensive power of the system may be 246hp, match the E-CVT gearbox, provide front drive and E-Four all-wheel drive options.

According to previous reports, GAC Toyota Sienna will be implemented in GAC Toyota third and fourth line plant production, with an annual planned production capacity of more than 100000 units. In addition, according to the previously exposed FAW Toyota Sienna, spare parts suppliers will also carry out supporting work in the fourth quarter of 2021, and enter the stage of trial production, with planned production and sales of 5320 vehicles per month after formal mass production and listing in the first quarter of 2022. According to the current progress, there is a good chance that the model will appear at the Guangzhou Auto Show at the end of this year, ready for its official sale next year.

Guangzhou Auto Toyota Sienna named Sena has caused a lot of controversy, or because Sena has been registered by Dongfeng Citroen to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings. It is understood that in 2003, DPCA applied for registration of the "Sena" trademark, and in the same year, Dongfeng Citroen announced that Sena had officially entered the Chinese market. However, due to the high pricing of the car and the marketing strategy of Citroen Automobile and other factors, the sales of the model were very poor, and only three years later, production was officially suspended in January 2006. Of course, although this model no longer exists, but DPCA still holds the trademark, after all, it can also launch new models in the future.

In fact, similar to Toyota's Sienna is the Fiat Siena, which sounds very similar to the two models. Fiat named the model Siena, but production has been suspended.

As for FAW Toyota, it has registered trademarks such as Wilner, Willow, Wilyao and so on, which may become the name of the model.

From the perspective of the domestic market, the market share of MPV is increasing, but the layout of related enterprises in this field is still very limited. In terms of the top ten sales, the main models that perform well are Buick GL8 and Honda Odyssey / Ericsson, while other models perform average. It can be said that the MPV market still has great potential for development. At present, the competitive products in the market are relatively limited, and it is not too late for layout. However, the final impact on its market performance is in pricing, the current price of the new Senna parallel import version is about 40-600000 yuan, the overall price is slightly higher, Senna domestic prices will decline, but do not rule out terminal price increase sales.
