AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)06/26 Report--

According to the website of the State Administration of Market Supervision, a few days ago, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products, filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration and decided to recall the following vehicles from now on.

Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd.: recall some imported Model 3 electric vehicles produced from January 12, 2019 to November 27, 2019, totaling 35665.

Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.: recall a total of 211256 domestic Model 3 electric vehicles produced from December 19, 2019 to June 7, 2021, and 38599 domestic Model Y electric vehicles produced from January 1, 2021 to June 7, 2021.

The reason for the recall is that due to problems with the active cruise control system of the vehicles within the scope of the recall, it is easy to cause the driver to activate the active cruise function mistakenly in the following situations: when the vehicle is in D gear, the driver moves the right control lever again to try to switch gear; when the vehicle makes a sharp turn, the driver mistakenly touches and pokes the right control lever, etc. After the active cruise control is mistakenly activated, if the cruising speed set by the vehicle is not the current speed, and the current speed is lower than the set speed, the vehicle will accelerate to the set speed, resulting in a sudden increase in vehicle speed, which will affect the driver's expectation and lead to miscalculation of vehicle handling. In extreme cases, it may lead to vehicle collision and safety risks.

In view of the product defects, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will upgrade the active cruise control software for the recalled vehicles free of charge through the vehicle remote upgrade (OTA) technology, and users can complete the software upgrade without going to the store. For vehicles that cannot be recalled through vehicle remote upgrade (OTA) technology, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will contact relevant users through Tesla service center to upgrade active cruise control software for vehicles free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

It is worth mentioning that the recall was carried out in the context of the defect investigation initiated by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. Affected by the investigation, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. decided to take recall measures to eliminate safety risks.
