As an old student of the compact SUV, Dongfeng Nissan Qijun has made new progress. On June 28th, the new Nissan Qijun officially opened its pre-sale, launching two models, the VC-Turbo Super variable engine 300 2WD and the VC-Turbo Super variable engine 300 4WD, with the pre-price of 199900 yuan and 219900 yuan respectively. Referring to the cash model, the price range of the model with 2.0L/2.5L engine is 18.88-273300 yuan. It is understood that the new Nissan Qijun will be officially launched on July 30.

The new Qijun continues the design language of the overseas version of the model in appearance, the front face still uses the family-style V-Motion design, but the forward gas grille is larger than the cash, the headlamp group on both sides uses the split design, and there is little difference between the side of the body and the cash model. In the rear part, the new car is equipped with a small spoiler and uses a black taillight design. In terms of size, the new Qijun body length, width and height are 4681/1840/1730mm, wheelbase 2706mm, the body size has been improved compared with the current model, the new car still retains the 5-seat version and 7-seat version of the two layout options.

Domestic Qijun continues the design style of overseas models, matching three-frame steering wheel, suspended central control screen and 12.3-inch full LCD dashboard. The central multimedia display is also equipped with a functional control area with a combination of touch and physical buttons, with a new shift lever and knob type all-wheel drive mode choice, suspended central control screen, 12.3in full LCD dashboard and 10.8in HUD system, which can realize three screens linkage.

As a new generation model, the domestic Qijun carries a 1.5T three-cylinder turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 150kW and a maximum torque of 300N ·m, matched with a new generation of CVT gearbox. For comparison, the current Qijun is equipped with 2.0L and 2.5L naturally aspirated engines, with maximum power of 111kw and 133kw, and peak torque of 194Nm and 239Nm.

It is worth mentioning that after the new Qijun comes on the market, the current model will be delisted. Judging from the data, the 1.5T three-cylinder engine carried by domestic Qijun performs better than the current 2.0L/2.5L, but the acceptance of the three-cylinder engine by domestic consumers is not high, that is to say, although Dongfeng Nissan has great self-confidence in the newly developed 1.5T three-cylinder engine, whether it can be accepted by consumers is a big question.

As a reference, Guangzhou Auto Toyota Leiling and FAW Toyota Corolla have both launched 1.5L three-cylinder models, the power performance of the two models is slightly better than the 1.2T four-cylinder turbocharged model on sale, but even so, 1.5L Leiling / Carola sales are not satisfactory. According to the data, from January to May, Rayling / Corolla sold 79396 and 148879 vehicles respectively, of which 13095 and 17049 were 1.5L models. It can be seen that Leiling / Corolla, as Toyota's best-selling model, although there is some compromise in the price, but because consumers are difficult to accept the disadvantages brought by the three-cylinder engine, it is not all about replacing the three-cylinder engine, while retaining the sales of four-cylinder models. As the world's highest-selling Toyota, Toyota has not shown absolute confidence in this particular market.

By the same token, Qijun is one of Dongfeng Nissan's best-selling models. Nissan sold 1058634 vehicles in 2020, of which 175177 were Qijun, second only to Xuanyi. Now Qijun plans to replace three-cylinder models, and under the background that many car companies have failed on the three-cylinder engine, Qijun's future market performance has a lot of variables.
