According to the China Automobile Association, the production and sales of new energy vehicles from January to May this year were 967000 and 950000 respectively, an increase of 224% over the same period last year. By the end of May this year, there were about 5.8 million new energy vehicles in China, accounting for about 50 per cent of the total number of new energy vehicles in the world. Fu Bingfeng, secretary-general of the China Automobile Association, said that in the next five years, the sales of new energy vehicles in China will grow at an average annual rate of more than 40%, and the proportion of new energy vehicles will increase significantly to 20% and 30% in 5-8 years. In the view of the industry, new energy vehicles will show a trend of continuous upward development. At the China Automobile Forum held by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Fu Bingfeng, executive vice president and secretary general of the China Automobile Association, predicted that sales of new energy vehicles in China will grow at an average annual rate of more than 40% in the next five years.
