Retail sales of new energy vehicles in June 2021 were 223000, an increase of 169.2% over the same period last year and 19.2% month-on-month growth, according to the Federation of passengers. Wholesale sales of new energy vehicles were 227000, an increase of 165.7% over the same period last year and 14.7% month-on-month.

It is understood that car companies that sold more than 10,000 new energy vehicles wholesale in June included BYD, Tesla, SAIC GM Wuling, and SAIC passenger cars, of which Tesla sold 33155 vehicles, second only to BYD's 40532. It should be noted that BYD's new energy includes hybrid models and pure electric models, while Tesla is relatively concentrated.

According to the Federation of passengers, Tesla sold 33155 vehicles wholesale in China in June 2021, including 11623 Model Y and 21532 Model 3, of which 5017 were exported. For comparison, Tesla's wholesale sales in China in May 2021 were 33463, including 12728 for Model Y and 21936 for Model 3, of which 11527 were exported.

Here we need to pay attention to two concepts, one is wholesale sales, the other is retail volume. Wholesale sales refers to the total amount of goods supplied by automobile manufacturers to dealers in bulk, and retail sales refers to the total amount of cars sold by dealers. In contrast, retail sales data are more referential than wholesale sales and better reflect the performance of automotive products in the market. However, because Tesla uses a direct marketing approach, its wholesale sales include retail sales in China and overseas exports.

From the above data, it is not difficult to find that Tesla's sales in China shrank slightly in June compared with May, which partly explains the slight difference in Tesla's overall performance, taking into account the impact of the Dragon Boat Festival in June. In addition, the working day in June is one day less than in May, so the difference in sales of 308 vehicles between the two months is almost negligible.

In terms of specific models, Tesla exported only 5017 models in June, down 56.48 per cent from 11527 in May. Of this total, retail sales of Model 3 models were 16515, up 79.35 per cent from 9208 in May. Retail sales of Model Y models were 11623, down 8.68 per cent from 12728 in May. Various data show that Tesla Shanghai rights incident and related Tesla recall, crash incident did not have a direct impact on sales, consumers have returned to rationality.

It is worth mentioning that just yesterday, Tesla online online Model Y standard continued version of the model, the new car subsidy after the price of 276000 yuan, is expected to start delivery in August. At present, the Model Y already covers three models in China. The price of the standard continued version of Model Y is 276000 yuan, the starting price of the long-lasting version is 347900 yuan, and the starting price of the high-performance version is 377900 yuan. From the point of view of the price, the Model Y standard continued version is 70, 000 yuan lower than the long-lasting version, 100000 yuan lower than the high-performance version, and the standard continued version is much lower than the other two.

Tesla said that the mileage of the Model Y standard extended version (GB working condition method) reached 525km. Under the power configuration of single motor rear wheel drive, it takes only 5.6seconds to accelerate 100km, with a top speed of 217km / h. Tesla did not disclose whether the standard continued version of the model carries LG Chemical's ternary lithium battery or Ningde era lithium iron phosphate battery, but a salesperson said that the Model Y standard battery carries lithium iron phosphate battery.

The launch of the continued flight version of the Model Y standard soon went viral, and the ordering system on Tesla's official website was once paralyzed. According to the official website, delivery of the Model Y standard continuation version will begin in August, and Tesla's sales are expected to hit a new high again in August.

On the evening of July 2, Tesla released delivery data for the second quarter of 2021, showing that Tesla produced a total of 206421 electric vehicles and delivered a total of 201250 electric vehicles in the second quarter of 2021, both of which set a new quarterly high for the company. Combined with Tesla's first quarter sales, Tesla produced a total of 386759 vehicles worldwide and delivered 386050 vehicles in the first half of 2021, of which Model 3/Model Y produced 20481 vehicles and delivered 199360 vehicles in the first half of the year.

Tesla did not disclose specific market sales, but according to previous data, Tesla maintained a leading position in the US and Chinese markets. In the Chinese market, Tesla sold 161743 vehicles in the first half of the year, accounting for 41.9 per cent of the global market. In a sense, China has become an important market for Tesla. With the delivery of Model Y models under 300000 yuan, including the possible introduction of 200000 yuan entry-level models by Tesla in the future, it will promote sales growth in the Chinese market, and has a tendency to overtake the United States to become the primary market.

At the beginning of this year, Tesla predicted that the growth rate of delivery volume this year would exceed 50%, which means that Tesla's delivery target this year will reach 750000 vehicles. After good sales of domestic Model 3 models, Tesla has tasted the sweetness of the Chinese market.
