A few days ago, Jaguar Land Rover (China) Investment Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and decided to start from July 9, 2021. Recall some imported 2020 and 2021 Land Rover found cars produced from August 31, 2020 to March 11, 2021, totaling 2968.

The reason for the recall is that due to the manufacturing process problems of the supplier, the battery grounding bolt and the body panel do not form a sufficient physical contact area, which may lead to poor grounding between the battery grounding bolt and the body panel. In extreme cases, the power interruption of the vehicle may occur, resulting in the vehicle unable to start or the engine flameout while the vehicle is running, and affecting the functions such as steering power, braking power and so on.

In view of the above defects, Jaguar Land Rover (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will install a new battery grounding bolt for vehicles within the recall range free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

It is worth mentioning that this recall is an expanded recall of the "Jaguar Land Rover (China) Investment Co., Ltd. Recall some imported Land Rover found cars" issued on December 11, 2020. The reason for the expansion of the recall is: through further product investigation, it is found that the vehicles within the scope of this recall may have the same safety risks.

On December 11, 2020, Jaguar Land Rover (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Chery Jaguar Land Rover Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration.

(1) Jaguar Land Rover (China) Investment Co., Ltd.: starting from February 5, 2021, it will recall some imported 2019-2020 Land Rover found cars produced from November 28, 2018 to August 31, 2020, with a total of 7044 vehicles.

The reason for the recall is that the battery grounding bolts may be damaged due to manufacturing process problems of the vehicles within the recall scope, resulting in poor grounding of the battery grounding bolts and chassis. In extreme cases, the power interruption of the vehicle may occur, resulting in the vehicle unable to start or the engine flameout while the vehicle is running, which affects the functions such as steering power, braking power and so on.

In view of the above defects, Jaguar Land Rover (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will install a new battery grounding bolt for vehicles within the recall area free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

(2) Chery Jaguar Land Rover Co., Ltd. since December 12, 2020, recall some of the domestic 2020 models of Land Rover found Sports version and range Rover Aurora mild hybrid vehicles produced from April 18, 2019 to October 14, 2020, a total of 33980 vehicles.

The reason for the recall is that vehicles within the recall area may short-circuit the 12V circuit in the DC-to-DC converter due to a failure of the semiconductor transistor (MOSFET) inside the DC-to-DC converter caused by occasional overload in the MHEV electrical system. In extreme cases, there may be heat accumulation in the DC-DC converter, which may lead to vehicle fire and safety risks.

In view of the above defects, Chery Jaguar Land Rover Co., Ltd. will upgrade the control software of DC-DC converter related modules for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge to eliminate safety risks. This version of the software increases the monitoring of the internal short circuit of the DC-DC converter. after the short circuit occurs, the system will automatically cut off the power supply on the 48V side of the DC-DC converter, disconnect the circuit circuit and prevent heat accumulation.

Chery Jaguar Land Rover sold 26471 vehicles in the first half, up 16.1 per cent from a year earlier, according to data. Although the sales volume of Chery Jaguar Land Rover is growing, and the Chinese market has become the most important market for Jaguar Land Rover, in terms of sales volume, Jaguar Land Rover in China is slightly better than Infiniti and Acura, but it lags far behind Cadillac, Volvo, Lexus and so on.
