From the published declaration chart, the appearance of the new Lingdu is completely different from the cash model, using a new design style, a larger forward air grille, surrounded by the front, showing a "smiling face" visual effect as a whole. The through-and-through LED headlights and the large and medium grid below are inspired by Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen ID series respectively.

It is understood that, as a replacement model, Lingdu will be based on Volkswagen MQB platform to build. In terms of body size, Lingdu positioning is between Lang Yi and CC. According to the information declared by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the length, width and height of the new car are 4784/1831/1469mm and the wheelbase is 2731mm, respectively, with an increase of 169mm in length, 5mm in width and 44mm in height, which is significantly higher than that of cash models.

The new Ling du is also different from the current model in the rear design, using a through taillight design, a shorter and lower design style, the overall body has become a lot of flattening, with a hidden exhaust layout and a black design of integrated taillights, and the English word "Lamando" is marked under the sign.

One of the biggest highlights of the new car is the use of frameless door design. At present, among Volkswagen's domestic models in China, only FAW-Volkswagen CC has adopted frameless door design, and the new Lingdu will become the first compact car in Volkswagen domestic models to provide frameless doors, and its product power will undoubtedly be greatly improved.

In terms of power, according to the declaration, the new Lingdu will be equipped with a 1.4T engine and is expected to continue to be equipped with a seven-speed double-clutch gearbox. Although the rear of the new car is marked with "280TSI", the declaration information shows that the maximum power of the engine is 110kw, which is the same as the current model, and is expected to provide low-power 1.4T engines, 230TSI and 280TSI, respectively. According to the plan, the new car will be on the market as soon as this year.

For the new Lingdu, some netizens said "useless", "this front face is too funny", "what the heck", while others thought that "although it is ugly, it is also a breakthrough", "so fresh", "finally not stereotyped", but the voice of disapproval is louder by comparison.

According to the data, Lingdu is a compact car launched by SAIC-Volkswagen at the Chengdu Auto Show in August 2014. it is based on the NMC concept car and officially went on sale in January 2015. At the beginning of listing, Lingdu also has good sales and influence, and can even compete with the Honda Civic, but now Lingdu's production power has been obviously insufficient with the passage of time. At present, 2021 models are on sale, and the upcoming one is a new generation of Lingdu. With its big back design, it is believed that it will also be concerned by more young consumers.

From the perspective of SAIC-Volkswagen internal models, Lingdu positioning is between Lang Yi and Passat, although FAW-Volkswagen Suiteng price and Lingdu overlap, but the two style positioning is different, can not form a direct competitive relationship. However, combined with the design and price of Lingdu partial sports style, Buick Weilang (including GS hatchback version) and 2.0T low-power Lecker 03 will compete with it.

According to the data, the cumulative sales of Lingdu was 66020 in 2020 and 21181 in the first six months of this year, down 7.01 per cent from the same period last year. The new generation of Lingdu will be launched this year, and its sales are expected to be affected in the short term, but it remains to be tested whether the sales of this new car will reach a new high after its launch.
