On July 14, the China Automobile Circulation Association released the report on the value preservation rate of Chinese cars in 2021, which includes the ranking of all levels of models, national brands, national models and new energy vehicles.

It is understood that combined with the second-hand car transaction data in the first half of 2021, the list ranks the value preservation rate of different brands and different levels of models according to the calculation method of "second-hand car transaction price / new car guidance price". The main reference index is the value preservation rate of 3-year-old vehicles.

From the perspective of the value preservation rate of all levels of models, the value preservation rate of all major classes in the first half of this year is basically more than 60%, of which the value preservation rates of small cars, medium and large cars and medium and large SUV are all more than 70%, and medium and large SUV ranks first with 74.26%.

The value preservation rate report released this time does not rank each series of models as a whole, but is specific to each department and each brand. From the perspective of German brands, Porsche, as an ultra-luxury brand, leads other brands with a value of 88.35%. The value preservation rates of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi are 72.63%, 66.95% and 65.12% respectively, which still has something to do with the large discount range in its terminal market. In terms of mainstream brands, Volkswagen is 61.55%, Skoda is less than 60%.

The value preservation rate of Japanese brands in the market is relatively high, even higher than some luxury brands. In the first half of this year, for example, the value preservation rate of Lexus, which is mainly imported, is as high as 83.72%, which is much higher than that of German BBA, while Toyota and Honda have a value preservation rate of more than 70%, 78.75% and 76.92% respectively. In terms of other brands, with the exception of Suzuki, the preservation rate of other brands is more than 60%.

In terms of American brands, only Tesla and Buick have a preservation rate of more than 60%, which is 63.91% and 60.25%, respectively. As an electric vehicle brand, there is no doubt about the brand effect of Tesla. The high preservation rate caused by brand premium has exceeded that of some traditional fuel models, and brand awareness will directly affect the preservation rate of the brand. This should be one of the reasons for Tesla's high preservation rate. However, due to Tesla's use of direct marketing, the price can be adjusted freely, which actually has a great impact on its value preservation rate.

Korean brands are only Hyundai and Kia, with preservation rates of 62.49% and 62.00% respectively in the first half of the year. Finally, let's take a look at our own brands. The brands with a value preservation rate of more than 60% are Wuling, Lingke, Baojun, GAC MOTOR, Chang'an and WEY, of which Wuling has the highest value of 68.78%. The reason why Wuling's value preservation rate is high, even higher than that of mainstream brands, is mainly due to its large holding capacity in the market, relatively stable prices of new cars, relatively low maintenance costs in the later stage, and relatively low product failure rates. therefore, the basic purchase of Wuling cars will not lose money.

In the TOP10 ranking of small cars, although they are basically occupied by Japanese models, Hyundai Renner won the list, leading Toyota's dazzling 75.08% with a value of 75.51%. Generally speaking, the preservation rate of Korean cars is relatively low, but because the price of Ruina itself is not high, the guidance price is about 50,000 yuan, so there is little room for depreciation. The compact car is one of the most popular models in the market, and the value preservation rate in this field is also ranked by Japanese brands. The 3-year preservation rates of Honda Civic and Jade are 77.47% and 75.68% respectively, mainly because the Honda brand has a high reputation in the market and the price is relatively stable. In fourth place is Lexus CT, with a three-year preservation rate of 75.40%. Toyota Corolla also appeared on the list, with a three-year preservation rate of 71.18%. As for the Volkswagen brand, despite its large market holdings, only the Beetle is on the list, with a three-year value preservation rate of 75.23%, probably because the car has been discontinued and its scarcity in the market also affects the model. It is worth mentioning that Lecke 03 is the only domestic model to enter the list, with a three-year value preservation rate of 69.66%.

The value preservation rate of medium-sized cars is mainly German models, with Audi S4, Lexus IS and Audi S5 as the top three models, and the 3-year value preservation rates are 85.63%, 82.83% and 79.41%, respectively. In terms of Japanese models, only the Camry and Accord appeared on the list, with a preservation rate of 78.55% and 77.18% respectively.

For medium and large cars, the value preservation rate of Lexus ES is very conspicuous, with a 3-year-old car as high as 85.83%. The car has been sold in the market by price increase for a long time, which is also a true reflection of the car's product characteristics and brand premium. Different from the car market, due to the extensive layout of independent brands in the field of SUV, we can see that there are many independent brand models in subdivided SUV models. Toyota Yize ranks first in the preservation rate of small SUV, and the preservation rate of 3 years can still reach 71.78%. Honda XR-V and Toyota C-HR ranked second and third, with preservation rates of 70.62% and 70.44%. Small SUV has three independent SUV on the list, including Harvard H2s, Baojun 510 and Roewe RX3, with a preservation rate of more than 60 per cent.

In terms of the compact SUV, a number of Japanese models are at the top of the list. Toyota RAV4 Rongfang, Honda CR-V and Nissan Qijun all have a three-year value preservation rate of more than 70%, and the retention and sales of these three models in the market are also representative. In the TOP10 ranking of medium-sized SUV models, the preservation rate of Porsche Macan is as high as 91.51%, while Toyota Hanlanda and Lexus NX rank second and third respectively, with a 3-year preservation rate of 87.09% and 78.21%, respectively. Medium and large SUV is an interesting segment, and the premium for some products will be higher.
