AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/14 Report--
Mr. Chen, Wenzhou Tesla's car, posted the EDR test report of Wenzhou Society of Automotive Engineering on Weibo on July 14, and said he had recently received an indictment from Tesla, hoping that someone could help analyze the data.
According to the test report released by the car owner, the main unit that issued the test report was Wenzhou Society of Automotive Engineering, which was commissioned on August 14, 2020, and the vehicle identification was completed on October 14, 2020. the identification materials were the Zhejiang CDAXXX license plate Tesla Model 3 car involved, the surveillance video of the incident, and the EDR accident data and background data of Tesla vehicles.
The statement about the braking system in the test report shows that the accident led to the overall loss of the right front wheel, breakage of the right front brake pipe and brake fluid leakage; check that there is still brake fluid in the brake main cylinder, block the right front brake pipe, step on the brake pedal to test, the rest of the brake system has a certain braking effect, and the brake light works normally (can be lit) when the vehicle is powered on.
The "Analysis description" shows that there are two collisions in the identified vehicle, and the recording function of the airbag control module of the vehicle is activated during the collision. The speed increased from 51km/h to 118km before the first collision, continued to rise to 120km/h before the second collision, and then decreased to 108km/h.
The recorded data also showed that the brake pedal, stability control system and ABS system did not work within 5 seconds before the collision. During the two collisions, the brake pedal switch of the vehicle was in OFF state (not pressed), the acceleration pedal was loosened twice (2 times recorded as 0), the rest of the time was "100%" (completely pressed), and the motor speed increased from 3995rpm to 8589rpm.
According to the EDR inspection report, Wenzhou Society of Automotive Engineering gives the appraisal opinions: 1, the braking system and steering system of small cars can not be dynamically tested due to accident collision damage, and no mechanical faults and safety hidden dangers are found in static inspection; the front lighting signal device is damaged due to accident collision, the working condition can not be tested, and the rear lighting signal device works normally. 2. The small car does not have the function of self-driving mode. after analyzing the collision data of the car, combined with the condition that the brake light is not on when it accelerates into the parking lot, the brake pedal did not work within 5 seconds before the accident collision.
This afternoon, the car owner shared several pictures suspected of interpreting EDR data. According to the content of the picture, the analysis said that if the vehicle is normal and the acceleration pedal is pressed to 100% for 5 seconds due to driver misoperation, then the speed should be increased to 94km/h, but the accident car is only increased to 67km/h, which undoubtedly proves that there was a serious failure of the vehicle itself at the time of the accident. In addition, the Tesla's brake taillight did not light up during the period when it was out of control, so Wenzhou Society of Automotive Engineering inferred that the driver did not step on the brakes at that time, but the analysis considered that the appraisal of the institution was very hasty and unscientific, because it did not take into account the condition of the 12V power supply of the vehicle at the time of the accident, and if there was a failure of the 12V power supply or strong EM electromagnetic interference at that time, then the driver would use all his strength to step on the brake. The brake lights won't come on either.
Mr. Chen posted on Weibo several times this evening that there were major flaws in the testing process of EDR by the Wenzhou Automotive Engineering Association.
According to previous reports, in August 2020, the Wenzhou owner of Tesla, Mr. Chen, driving his own Tesla Model 3, suddenly accelerated at a distance of 100m from the parking lot, colliding with more than a dozen cars before coming to a stop. The accident caused several cars to be damaged, and Mr. Chen's own Model 3 was also seriously damaged. The owner of the car, Mr. Chen, was successfully rescued after seven hours of rescue and was medically identified as a Grade 9 disability.
After the accident, Mr. Chen said that the accident was caused by the vehicle speeding out of control and crashing into the railing of the toll booth. At that time, his vehicle did not turn on autopilot. At first, the speed of the car was only 5km/h, then suddenly accelerated to 120km/h. The vehicle was suddenly out of control and the emergency braking had no effect. Mr. Chen also said that he had been an "old driver" for more than a decade and would never make the mistake of stepping on the accelerator as a brake.
Subsequently, the police commissioned the Wenzhou Society of Automotive Engineering, which is more authoritative in the judicial identification of local vehicles, to test and identify Mr. Chen's Tesla and issued a corresponding test report. At that time, the Wenzhou Society of Automotive Engineering released the results of the Wenzhou Tesla accident investigation: the car owner mistakenly stepped on the pedal and mistook the accelerator for the brake to cause the accident.
The judicial appraisal agency under the Wenzhou Society of Automotive Engineering said: there is a set of data for airbag module data. this data can record the speed of the car in the five seconds before the collision and whether the driver's foot is on the brake pedal or on the acceleration pedal, including the opening of the acceleration pedal. On the other hand, the data of the vehicles in Wenzhou this time reflect the same situation on both sides, so they can corroborate each other. The accident was caused by the car owner stepping on the wrong pedal and mistaking the throttle for the brake. According to previous reports, Tesla's impact speed reached 120km / h when the Wenzhou Tesla accident occurred.
In response to the identification results, Mr. Chen responded on social media: "in order to settle compensation for neighbors, I was forced to ask the appraisal agency to write this." Mr. Chen said that under the persuasion of his friends, in order to settle the claim, he was finally forced to admit that he mistakenly stepped on the accelerator and caused the accident. As a result of this accident, he lost his ability to work, and the car owners who were hit by vehicles in the community often came to the door to collect debts, and they had to settle the compensation for NT $400,000 to NT $500,000, and they had no way to repay it. In order to settle the claim, the neighbor finally went to the appraisal agency to set the appraisal result as stepping on the wrong accelerator.
Mr. Chen said that he had long given up defending his rights with Tesla, and as ordinary consumers, we could not find any evidence to sue Tesla, so what we could do was "not to buy Tesla" and "because we are victims of vehicles, we stay away from Tesla and cherish life". However, Mr. Chen did not sue Tesla, but Tesla in turn sued the Wenzhou car owner. The reason for the lawsuit and the lawsuit request are unknown. Of course, it is speculated that the detection report of the Wenzhou accident may have caused the accident for the car owner, but the car owner repeatedly claimed that Tesla was out of control, believing that Tesla's problems led to the accident, which had a great impact on Tesla's reputation. As for the actions of the follow-up car owners and Tesla, we will continue to pay attention.
